It was a poor performance but I think there were substantial psychological factors at play, give it a few more games I say.

We had a bad game, we actually havnt had one for a long time. We desperately need a stronger bench but that is the first time we have been hammered this season. I thnk we will get a big bounce from it. Last night was a freak result, freak ref, freak Brighton side and a freak amount of players who didnt turn up. The fact our team arnt good at playing sides who play 8 at the back is not that surprising....

You mean our players didn't have the nerve or balls to go and play with confidence against Brighton?

I ummed and arred about going to Brighton away as it's a bad time of year to be shelling out Ģ30 to travel on a cold Tuesday night but I, like many others decided to support our team and back them as best we could. We showed up but unfortunately none of the players did. A bunch of over paid losers with no backbone walked around a pitch, the majority barely breaking a sweat against 10 men. How about digging into their pocket and paying the ticket price of every away fan that was there and had to endure the embarrassment at the hands of Brighton. I doubt it, Parish will claim he needs it to sign that top striker in January, when really he'll go get a manicure and count his premier league money. Nonsense, you've got to take the rough with the smooth. It's not good every week, especially as a Palace fan. Beaten by the better team yesterday, it happens. The players know it was a bad performance, a few of them came over to apologise at the end. No need to be over the top about it.

Games where everything goes wrong that can go wrong have taken place, take place and will take place in future. We are not as bad as yesterday, nor are we as good as last Saturday. My main concern is that there donīt seem to be any players or ideas on the bench how to give games like yesterday a twist. And this concern didnīt pop-up just yesterday.

Okay, so we were probably second-best for the first 20 minutes - but a low-scoring or nil-scoring draw was still IMHO looking on the cards. But as has frequently and correctly been said many times, goals change games. The penalty was so blatantly unfair, that one can understand the players' anger. When the referee almost immediately compounded his error with another important wrong call against us, their anger rose and they lost concentration, and then their heads. Yes, I know they're professionals and should in theory be able to take these things in their stride. But even professionals are human beings, and I think they were goaded beyond endurance by Friend's decisions. However undeserved Brighton's 2-0 lead might have been, they were certainly not going to surrender it - particularly down to 10 men - without a fight. And good for them. Their last goal was irrelevant, and largely the consequence of a losing team going all out to get back on terms. So what's my conclusion from all this? That without that penalty award we might well have gradually got back into the game and finished with an acceptable scoreline. Another day we will be the beneficiaries of referee incompetence and get a win we don't deserve.

Would love to know what Hodgson said to them at half time. Just listened to his post match comments and as usual he is relatively unemotional and matter of fact, which perhaps is his greatest strength, but might be a weakness also. In the last question he faced he said more than he has in perhaps 3 months of press conferences. He was asked why he didnt make changes at half time, and responded with essentially saying there are "other games" meaning he had already given up the ghost. He then incredibly admitted that he had no confidence in the players on the bench to make a difference and get us back to 4-3. He stated "everybody knows" that we dont have any game changers at the club and totally (and correctly) stuck the knife in to the bench players. Now one has to wonder, if RH is admitting that just like last year, we once again dont have any quality or game changers on the bench, then what on earth were his discussions with Parish like in the summer? In this game you saw both our tactical limitations and inability to change and evolve in the game (Pardew esque) but our sqaud is laid bare and the bench is shown for what it is, championship at best. Recruitment has been p&ss poor on the whole under cpfc2010 and Parish doesnt seem capable of running it any other way.
Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha. |

Both of them completely inept and totally useless. I'm not saying that Williams and KaiKai our going to be Messi but does anyone actually think they would be worse than those 2 s***houses??
Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |

If Freedman the greedy b****** takes over, I will send back my ticket and never go again til hes gone! He abandoned us before and then tried to drop us in the s*** over the Moody affair, nasty little man who should never have been allowed back at Selhurst
