Bottom line = we have a large hole in the middle of our midfield right now.

If we dont have enough money to plug that hole, that is on the chairman as you are thrown a LOT of money in this league.

Cabaye probably leaving has been known for months if not years. RLC was on loan.

How money works =

Blow too much too soon and dont have enough to properly operate for a season or 2 and have to consolidate and not manage the squad properly = schoolboy mistake by the people running the club over a period of years.

If the wage bill is too high, whose fault is that?

If we have spent too much dough on players and now are struggling to find large lump sum transfer fees, whose fault is that?

Its not rocket science.

yes your right its not rocket science,

THE BOARD would agree to the fees and salary's based on finances,
Parish is just one co-owner he doesnt have final say,has i said before if i invested millions in the club i would want my approval before millions in fees and salarys are paid out.
so your right its not rocket science its called business and the board run it the best way they can

I have been a staunch critic of Parish for a long time, but it seems he might be finally learning his lesson regarding transfer dealings and understanding that most transfers don’t actually need to be on deadline day.

I think Kouyaté is a great signing for us and if we get Max Meyer over the line, even without Jordan Ayew everything around and North of Luka is looking a whole lot better.

He still likes to play games in the media but if Meyer comes in that is already a great window.

Remember when we were signing players like Owen Garvan and Wilbra-donkey? It really wasn’t that long ago. It’s nuts that we are even in with a shout of getting Meyer.

Credit where it’s due.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.

At last someone has put SP right on how to run his business. After the longest run in the top league, after saving the old club from oblivion it is nice to know there are some out there who can put SP right.
Well done mate.

I had trouble sleeping last night, I was so excited about the possibilities. And I’m nearly 60!! I no doubt need a reality check, but there you go.

Thank you Maine for your honest about turn on this transfer window which is refreshing to see. I think we may even get to the point where we don't need any deadline day activity which would be fantastic for Roy. As you say, if we get Meyer over the line today or tomorrow that will be a fantastic bit of business, it replaces the loss of Cabaye and RLC and is a real statement to Wilf that we are still ambitious. The thought of Kouyate, Milivojevic and Meyer in midfield with Wilf, Andros and any one of our forwards up top, PVA and AWB overlapping on the flanks are going to frighten the s***e out of a lot of very good teams. I am excited about the coming season.

It is starting to look like when SP said “we need the right players, not players right now” it wasn’t spin.

If we land Meyer as well as Kouyate I’ll be pleased - anyone else is a bonus.

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

We def need more

Everyone was saying how thin our squad was last season, well we released quite a few so these two don’t add to our numbers, they don’t even equal the amount of bodies we had last year, yet.

The squad was thin on quality not numbers. Apart from Cabaye, we’ve not let any quality players go (RLC not being ours) & the reinforcements in so far are upgrades. We seem to be trying to bring players in from the academy/development teams to replace those that got nowhere near the first team notwithstanding the ridiculous injury crisis we had.

Wickham coming back & Dann to follow will improve depth too.

That said, an AM, CB & striker would be welcome.

Some loans may be the extras and indeed we shouldn’t be relying on them being in the main 11, especially as they’re often signed on deadline day, or not at all and then you get whoever is available but may not fit enough.

Anyone got a list of squad broken down into position? Have a look at numbers.

I hope we are going to use the loan market cleverly to boost the squad. I'd be happy with Meyer and Kouyote both signing. Very happy if we got those and either Ayew, Antonio or Ings (the former being more likely) but would be left feeling we couldn't do more if we got all the above plus a couple of loan signings to add depth. Think that way the loans give us just a little more squad depth, one of them being a midfielder.
