The legality of kettling has been challenged several times and gone as far as the EU Court of Human Rights. What is perhaps interesting is that it is only deemed appropriate when there is an imminent threat of serious disorder! . There was no imminent threat of serious disorder whatsoever when they decided to kettle us locked out off to the station at about half time .The only potential threat of disorder arose from the totally OTT policing decisions at that point.

I thought it was confirmed a long time ago that Willo was a Brighton fan. Why hasn't he been red carded yet, or even yellow carded? Rubbish. I've known him since the early 80's and he's Palace through and through for many years before that. I was also at Villa Park with him on 'that day'.

Exactly how did irregulars get tickets? You have to be very high up on the loyalty points to get a ticket in the first place. Things happen at Brighton-Palace games that is a given but locking out genuine fans with tickets for the actions of the HF has really pissed me off. They got in, played up inside whilst well behaved fans were being pushed around and hit by the Police outside. I despise the HF more than ever now, little boys bringing shame to our club and will no doubt be the cause of away fans coming to Selhurst to have a pop at our fans. Should all be banned. They want to act like morons they need to be punished for it. Very good point.....I saw many people that I know, that hardly ever go to away games, all season ticket holders (pleased to see them ) got tickets. Maybe they get the points in the club shop or in the bars ?

That's more than the total of HF so I think you need to rethink your accusations. Almost as bad as the BBS member who blamed the Delaney confrontation on the HF. People were locked out at KO because of the main gates having a few people flooding through. Nothing to do with fireworks that went off some time after.

chateauferret - it wasn't until your 5th anecdote that I realised these weren't all things that happened on the same night Putney to Glasgae in one night would have been impressive! I turned off the M40 on the way home from work and at the end of the slip-road a car with three 'lads' in it hit me from behind and shunted me into the car in front that was waiting to turn left on to the main road. The car behind then reversed away from me and sped past me and the car in front, turned right on to the main road and off. I got the number plate. My instinct was to chase after them, but then what about the car in front of me? what would I actually have done if I'd caught them etc etc? Later that evening when I eventually got home, I phoned the police to report what had happened. They told me that because it happened on the motorway (i.e. the slip road) I should have called the police at the time, and therefore I could be prosecuted for not having done so. Accordingly I now had to report to my nearest police station (which isn't very near at all) WITHIN 24 HOURS and produce my driving licence. I asked whether the police would be looking for the hit and run vehicle in the meantime, and was told that I could "make an official report" at the police station, and the matter could be taken forward from there. I questioned why I had to "produce" within 24 hours, but apparently the other two drivers involved in the incident weren't required to do so. Unfortunately the call handler didn't have enough intelligence to understand what my point was. Next morning - a Saturday with Mrs YT at work - I bundled my two small children in to the car (both still in nappies and double pushchair...difficult to park on a Saturday in a 'market town' etc etc) and managed to find the nick. To cut a long story a bit shorter, I explained everything, and the fat git behind the desk said "So what do you expect me to do about it?". I said "How about investigating the hit and run car - the one I've given you the registration number of?". "How about looking at the motorway cameras (there's one right by where it happened) to see if there's any evidence?". He basically said that the chances of finding the errant car were remote, and even if traced, if I was unable to identify the driver (which I wasn't) then there was nothing they could do anyway ie even if the car was registered the owner would probably deny that they had been driving it". I went potty! How come when my car was caught driving at 44 (yes 44) on a 40mph dual carriageway, I was threatened with the full force of the law if I didn't reveal who the driver was?....How come I've been forced to give up half of my Saturday to come and report this, and produce my licence when there's apparently no such obligation on the person who caused the accident? What about that bullsh*t about me making an official report for the police to then follow up? The answer was 1) I don't know why you are so worked up about it - you've got insurance, haven't you? and 2) if you don't leave now, i will arrest you for obstruction. Still angry about it now. For the record, 'm not inherently 'anti-police'. Both my parents were Met Police officers.

I was just about to post the same thing although given could sound like they didn't necessarily have enough points when they had to have the same number of points as the rest of us. There are bound to be a few t***s among them but it is wrong to assume that anything bad that happened was down to them.

Sorry, just read that back, and 'dubious' is probably the wrong word, unlucky would have been better. I definitely wasn't having a go.
