I would assume that there will be an inquest as there are unexplained deaths. Looks to me like ambulance chasing political lawyer jumping onto the gravy train. Maybe Mr Gussett can explain the need for Socialist Workers placards to appear at the gathering outside the Town Hall with overtly political messages. Alas the SWP in their infinite wisdom decided to show up. Lets hope they channel peoples anger in a political way, you're more than welcome to go and put your point of view across. If there is hope, it lies with the proletariat.

There will be inquests opened and adjourned into every single death . The full inquests will only take place once any investigation is concluded which could be a long time. The logistics of all this are enormous. Mortuary space, recovery operations, identification , inquests, funerals, repatriation for many of them. Huge undertaking

So Mr Gusset (got it right this time)are we to understand that you dislike to rampant politicising of the situation by the SWP. You were happy though with the second rate Lawyer suggesting there would be no Inquests ??

This is being politicised, disgraceful, they call for an investigation, they have already made their minds up, blaming the tories, which may end up being true, but the inquiry should decide who is to blame, when manchester , borough market happened, it was all keep calm dont proportion blame blah blah blah

I'm pretty sure everyone on here can agree with that. Edited by nickgusset (16 Jun 2017 10.52pm)

What this has done has shone a spotlight on the living conditions of people at the bottom of the ladder (yes I know some flats there were privately owned but most were private or social housing) I have posted about this in the past. I completely understand their anger. I spent 18 months in a private rent with all kinds of problems. The landlord and the letting agent were equally as culpable as each other and in complete cahoots. At one point the anger and I will say it, hatred I had for both of them was immense. If I could have torn my letting agent and his family (family run business and they all sung from the same hymn sheet)limb from limb I would have happily done so. When I managed to finally get myself out of there and began the should destroying task of looking for somewhere else .. well the stories of some of what I saw were shocking . There are some great landlords but my god bad ones need to swing. I was luckier than most. I had an income, we had the luxury of waiting until we were lucky and found the right place. It took 18 months of searching twice a day. Morning and night at one point I was waking up at 3am in the morning looking at rightmove and prime location. The council were useless. Came out with endless crap. I know their backs are against the wall in these situations. Their hands are tied but the anger I felt about our situation was a mere 0.001% of what these poor b******s feel. I would be baying for blood in their shoes the more I see and read about this the more rage I feel for what happened.

It's all about the money. It nearly always is. A lot of the time yes. In my case I had been living there 3 days. I was actually unpacking a box of belongings when a letter dropped tthrough the door threatening repossession of the property as the guy owned £7k on the mortgage. Which was a private mortgage and not a buy to let one despite the property always having been a rental from the day it was purchased. That was just the start. The previous tenants knew and had been threatened they wouldn't get their deposit back if they alerted us to what was going on and they were scared and kept quiet. That was the start of what was in short 18 months of utter hell

What i am getting from the anger of the crowd is that they know it could have been them going up in flames and smoke and that that still holds for those in tower blocks or at the very least they empathise with the victims as local housing tenants. Something very rotten has been going on in that borough for sure.

How odd that many of the alleged local angry protesters were wearing masks and hoods - why did they need to protect their identities as "angry locals"? Could it be that they were part of the juvenile trouble-makers who always get dragooned into protests like these, publicly called upon by the Marxist Shadow Chancellor too? Only asking, honest. I pinched this. 2009 - Lakanal House tower block catches fire killing 6 people. The local authority is prosecuted for lapses in fire safety. A review is promised by the Labour government after pressure from the Fire Protection Association (FPA). 2010 - Building Regulations Act is published, including provisions for fire safety. Conservatives win election, a review is promised by the new government after more pressure from the FPA and warnings that the BR act does not go far enough. 2013 - Boris Johnson overrules the ruling body of the London Fire Brigade and uses legal action to inflict £29m in cuts. Closing 10 fire stations, cutting firefighters by 552, losing 14 fire engines and cutting minimum staffing levels from 5 to 4. By the time he steps down as Mayor of London he inflicts a further £100m in cuts to £130m total and the loss of 7000 firefighters. Fire prevention measures carried out by the service drop by over 25%. When challenged by a committee on fire safety on how cutting the fire service would not increase deaths, Boris replies "get stuffed". 2013 - All Party Parliamentary Group on Fire Safety and Rescue produces a report strongly recommending installation of fire suppression systems and sprinklers in 4000 tower blocks throughout Britain. The Grenfell residents action group publishes a report warning that their landlord is putting their safety at risk by restricting the access ways to their car park. They are ignored by their landlord. 2013 - 2016 Conservative housing ministers sit on All Party report without action, promising they are "looking at it", including housing minister Gavin Barwell. 2016 - Conservatives vote against a Labour motion to make sure all landlords and housing associations ensure residences are fit for human occupation, including provisions for fire safety. The motion is denied by 312 votes to 219. 72 of the MP's voting against are landlords. The Grenfell residents action group publish a report warning people will die in a fire before the landlord takes notice of their poor fire safety provisions. They are ignored by their landlord. 2017 - Ex housing minister Gavin Barwell becomes Prime Minister Theresa May's chief of staff. He never actions the All Party Parliamentary report recommendations. Grenfell Tower is reduced to rubble with the deaths of at least 17 residents as a fire spreads through the building in 4 minutes. It has no fire suppression system or sprinklers. The stairwell is not adequate for a full building evacuation. The emergency lighting is missing from half of the floors. The fire service struggle to reach the building due to previous car park modifications causing access issues as warned by the resident action group in 2013. Edited by nickgusset (16 Jun 2017 11.43pm)
