The term "rare side effect" is being used alot these days to the extent that it's not so rare anymore. Countless lives have been lost and countless people are still dealing with the "rare side effects"

If only people were not misinformed or coerced and given the correct information about the now known widely dangerous Astra Zeneca "vaccine" then the young man Jack Hurn may still be alive.

That it is being brought up more frequently by the antivaxers to justify their untenable position is true. So though is that the side effects are very rare and that the benefits hugely outweigh them.

Of course this needs to be explained to everyone, not least to avoid claims being made. The Astra Zeneca vaccine is NOT dangerous. It has been of enormous benefit, especially in the third world because it is much easier to store and distribute and cheaper than the alternatives. We stopped using it solely because alternatives, though more expensive, offered even fewer side effects. Now it has been discontinued completely because of a commercial decision based on the recent experIence with the latest variants. The alternative vaccines cope with these better than the AZ one does so were proving more popular.

A man was misinformed about the Astra Zeneca vaccine and paid the ultimate price. If you can't see this then a certain poster is lost.

That's all I have to say on the matter.

So a protocol wasn’t followed! It happens. Would the young man have refused the vaccine if it had been? Rare side effects happen. Being ultra cautious with anything where they have been seen, and alternatives are available, is just common sense. It doesn’t though undermine the fundamental truth that these vaccines saved many more lives than they harmed. Mistakes are always possible but you don’t deny people the benefit of the vaccines as a consequence. To try to eliminate the mistakes.

I thought that the AZ vaccine was the least prone to side effects as it was structured differently to the others. If any of us had all the required jabs, then we probably had a mix of vaccines; was this mix causing later side effects?
What I find strange is that my family had COVID post taking the vaccine, whereas our friends who refused to have the vaccine never got COVID at all. Natural immunity? Or just luck?

hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing.

I for one am very glad to know that.

The correct protocols weren’t followed. It is extremely unlikely that if they had been the very unlucky man would not have accepted the vaccine. I know of no one having been told officially what we all already know, that medicines and vaccines have rare side effects, changing their mind.

What the difference is that it gives the antivaxxers the opportunity to build a mountain range out of a molehill. The compensation his family will receive could conceivably be enhanced because of the procedural error.

To suggest that just because a mistake was made things would have been different, or that this was responsible for his death, is disingenuous nonsense.

A man has died after taking the vaccine. And all a certain poster cares about is anti vaxxers.

I don’t think so. The AZ vaccine was, I believe, a little different in the way it could be stored and transported but was based on the same technology as the others. It was found to have very rare, but potentially serious, side effects so with others available its use was stopped in the western world and the supplies directed to the third world where its ambient storage needs were a benefit.

It was found that you could still get one of the variants after vaccination but that the vaccines protected against severe disease, as did prior infection. No one has natural immunity so your friends were either lucky or, more likely, were infected but did not display any symptoms.

I thought you had had your say!

Very rarely people suffer side effects from all kinds of medical interventions.

That doesn’t mean we refuse all medical interventions. Of course it needs to be pointed out. I had a minor op a few weeks back and had to sign a consent form acknowledging that I could die as a consequence. No signature, no operation. No operation, continuous pain.

The same with the vaccine. He should have been told of the potential side effects but also told that the balance of risk of having it and refusing lies heavily in favour of having it. Covid killed many more people than the vaccines did.

He was just unlucky.

A man has died after being misinformed over taking the Astra Zeneca vaccine.

Really sad. And even sadder that some posters do not acknowledge this.

Of course it’s sad. Every death of this kind is, but rare side effects don’t mean they don’t happen. Winning the lottery is rare, but someone does.

He wasn’t though misinformed. He wasn’t informed at all because the protocols weren’t followed.

I acknowledge the truth. Not a version twisted to support a prejudice.

Rightly critical of the government however planning is down to the Civil Service who advise the government. Shouldn't they take the lions share?
