It appears a difficulty with understanding the word 'your' is also apparent.

Their activists literally burned and killed and they ignored it until it came from the right.....where suddenly labels and organisations mattered. Here's a video of all those conveniently ignored moments to be indignant. [Tweet Link]
Edited by Stirlingsays (13 Dec 2020 5.58pm) You can't get through to these indoctrinated loons any more that you can convince religious types that God doesn't exist.

Trump's heartland in the Bible belt is full of indoctrinated loons that not only believe in God but that the stories in the Old Testament are the literal truth. Anyone believing anything else has to be considered comparatively normal.

Anyone believing anything else has to be considered comparatively normal. I assume you also consider Muslims, Hindus, Jews etc all equally "indoctrinated loons". Christianity always generates such badly behaved and immoral people compared to progressivism doesn't it? (even though the latter counts literal devil worshippers among it's ranks) Obviously these nasty people are just going around lynching black coloured people of colour left right and centre. Never forget Jussie Smollett! If you believe that the Westboro Baptist Church (all 20 odd of them) represents the views of Trumps core vote and not just normal hard working people who's lives have been f***ed over for decades by globalism and corporatism then you taking the stereotypical view of "southerners" that's been pushed by Hollywood for years and are simply showing all the prejudices you claim not to have. By far the nicest and most restrained Americans I've met over the years were from the south. Edited by W12 (14 Dec 2020 2.22pm)

On some level we are all indoctrinated however there is a noticeable difference between those who mostly base their beliefs upon reason and those who mostly base them upon empathy. When something is believed for emotional reasons it's not really changeable as it involves the ego. Someone might alter their view over time but very rarely over the course of a few discussions. This empathy reality is found on both sides of politics (if more so with progressives) However, I'm happy to discuss pretty much anything with any fair actor from whatever belief system they have: Ideas are a marketplace and unless you're promoting killing people talking...even where you differ, is always better. The politics section of any site is going to be a battleground of the culture war between authoritarianism/libertarianism/left/right and all the variations in between. It's utterly pointless politically of course and we would be deluding ourselves to claim anything different. Still, many activities we engage in most have little point unless they earn you money.....People do what they enjoy or occupies their minds....I liked the justification that JamieMartin once gave (if I remember correctly) and which I'd also agree with. Argumentation has a cognitive value plus you get spelling and typing practice. Edited by Stirlingsays (14 Dec 2020 2.47pm)
