CRYSTAL PALACE included a three-pronged Champions League clause in their bid for Christian Benteke which would have seen them pay another £2.5m for the forward if they gate-crashed the top four. Edited by Asian Eagle (16 Aug 2016 10.53pm) Best part of 285 pages I've followed everyday without posting a thing. But this. THIS is enough to break my silence.. what a laughing stock. Pay the fecking money or move on..if he's too expensive look elsewhere! Why is this proving so difficult to grasp? SP these games aren't funny squire, time to pick it up now - time is pressing.

Liverpool must have had a good laugh at the Champions League clause. Bet they took 2 seconds to decline!

Exactly. If true? What a f***ing embarrassment. Haggle? Sure by all means but when you are adding (in my opinion & especially under Pardew) you'll pay extra if we gatecrash next years Champions league is frankly cringe inducing.

What I am curious to know is how such private details could,be leaked? And that is why I think they are a load of bollocks and just stirring. Edited by moylerg (16 Aug 2016 11.46pm)

Who is behind all this nonsense? It's beyond a joke now. If we can't afford Benteke then look elsewhere. Just out of interest can we still put out a full first team to play Spurs this weekend? Edited by Percy of Peckham (17 Aug 2016 12.36am)

Edited by moylerg (16 Aug 2016 11.46pm) more likely Liverpool released these details, not us. As in the media is says Liverpool reject 30mil palace offer for Benteke. This upsets Liverpool fans as they want him gone and want the money. So Liverpool explain the truth as to why it was rejected. To appease their fans.

Revealed: Why Liverpool rejected Crystal Palace's Christian Benteke bid express.co.uk CRYSTAL PALACE included a three-pronged Champions League clause in their bid for Christian Benteke which would have seen them pay another £2.5m for the forward if they gate-crashed the top four.
Liverpool rejected the bid yesterday after indicating the triggers for the additional payments over a four year period were unrealistic. Qualifying for the Champions League was not the sole criteria for the payment of £2.5m. In addition, Benteke had to play in 70pc of the games and score 20 goals.
The Anfield club is standing firm on its £30m-plus valuation for the Belgium striker, who will be allowed to leave the club just 12 months after arriving from Aston Villa in a £32.5m switch. The bid was Palace’s first official offer and came more than six weeks after they had indicated a willingness to pay around £25m for Benteke during discussions between the clubs. It was tabled on the day they banked £25m from the sale of Yannick Bolasie to Everton and the onus is now firmly on Palace to increase the offer or walk away from discussions. Manager Alan Pardew is desperate to bring in striking reinforcements with Palace’s shortcomings emphasised in their opening weekend defeat to West Brom. West Brom are also keen on Benteke and would be willing to meet Liverpool’s valuation, but the player does not want to move to The Hawthorns. Everton and Sunderland have also been following the fortunes of Benteke, who is seeking around £120,000-a-week in wages. Interesting how they mention this is our first OFFICIAL offer....

If indeed it is our first official offer it's likely to be known it would fail, they come back with what they want and we meet in the middle probably something like 27 with more realistic add ins such as top 8
