EEverton have told Crystal Palace they are prepared to pay £60 million plus striker Cenk Tosun for Wilfired Zaha, but fear they could miss out to Chelsea. Telegraph Sport understands that Chelsea are weighing up a bid for Zaha that would take him to Stamford Bridge once the club have served their transfer ban. Chelsea are currently serving their two-window ban and cannot sign players this summer. They have lodged an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, but the fear remains they will also be prevented from making any new signings in January. That may suit Palace, as it would most likely allow Zaha to spend the coming season at Selhurst Park and would also improve their chances of signing Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi, who spent last season on loan with the Eagles. Chelsea are yet to make any firm move for 26-year-old Zaha, but the playersis thought to be aware of their potential interest in setting up a transfer for when their ban ends. Everton want to do a deal now and have indicated a willingness to send Tosun to Palace as well as pay £60m, which is far closer to Palace’s valuation of Zaha and is comfortably more than Arsenal’s first bid of £40m. ‘Palace have previously been interested in Tosun and Everton are making it clear how serious they are by offering to shatter their transfer record to try to land Zaha. But the former Manchester United forward has made it clear that he wants to join a club that he believes will compete in the Champions League and favours a move to either Arsenal or Chelsea. With Arsenal currently struggling to come up with the funds to match Palace’s £80m valuation, Chelsea may see an opportunity to offer a deal that could suit all parties.’ Now this makes perfect sense and I can believe/see happening. I have said for months that Wilfs most likely destination would be Chelsea - gives him everything he allegedly wants - stay in London and Champions League football. This deal would keep him at Palace this season giving us time to prepare/plan life after Wilf. Best for all concerned. COYP

..but with Zaha they will certainly have a much better chance especially with Arsenal and Chelsea struggling somewhat. Yes I suppose Chelsea won’t make top 4 until 20/21 when allegedly Chelsea are interested and able to buy Zaha to play that season so Champions League Football at Chelsea won’t be for another 2 years in 2021. Thing is I don’t see Everton making champions league before Chelsea unless they spend serious money.

They are the leagues biggest under achievers when it comes to money spent vs league position. They have not really found the magic formula that cements you in the top 5/6.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle Chelsea can buy Zaha now but not sign him till next summer. They can lend or sell us Bats. So we will have a good season with a strong team and plenty of time to buy replacements. Could be a great move for all parties.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle I think Chelsea signing Zaha and loaning him back to us for a season along with selling us Batshuayi would be a smart move. We can’t loan two Chelsea players at once, and I’m not sure if the loan laws let you buy someone and then loan them back to other premier league clubs in the same window anymore. If it’s feasible though like the previous poster said it suits all parties. We get a good striker, Wilf is happy and we have him for a season to prepare for life after he goes.

Chelsea have a TWO year transfer embargo, so they can't buy anyone and loan them back until 2021 and I can't really see them giving us the money now for a player they can't sign for two years, even if that were allowed. Their new manager has already said that he wants to keep Batshuayi and, in their current position, they're unlikely to want to lose any players that are in or around their first team.

But I agree with the thought Wilf wouldn't to move to Chelsea. Anything could happen before they make their 'move'. I think £73m gets Wilf this summer & someone will pay it. (I also think that's too low, for the record).

We can then get perhaps a couple of players included in the deal. SP has a good relationship with Bruce Buck so I see this as very plausible

No they don't it is 2 windows subject to an appeal. May not want to lose Bats now but once the embargo is lifted, who knows. I have a feeling this is going to happen but not until next summer. We get another good season out of Wilf and time to replace him!! (although.....)
