Liverpool know we are desperate for a striker. I agree. Moreover, I think SP and Co. are loosers from the point of view of CPFC. Selling Bolasie, Gayle and seemingly Jedi without replacements is lucrative only for the managing board.

Maybe it is time for Palace to play Liverpool at their own game. We need anumber of signings while Benteke would be great his purchase at this sort of price will be at the expense of at least one other purchase. Lets put an offer in for Slimani at £23 million, or £13 million for Bony and £6 million plus Jedi for Ayew. £6 million for Burke,£2 million for Dack. Liverpool will then have to think about their position Sell and lose his costs or loan and keep part of them. I also think that a few bodies rather than 1 marquee signing is what is required Agreed. I'd be ecstatic to see Benteke turn out for Palace, but if, come September the 1st, Benteke is the only transfer done, I would be very disappointed. Benteke + 2 or 3 other, more modest signings required. Unless Pardew is gambling on Kai Kai and Williams doing the business

Parish putting in bids of 23 mil plus add ons is inviting pressure on himself, surely he knows these 'rumours' will come out - there has to be some truth in them. Liverpool and Klopp have already stated that they won't accept anyless than 32 mil and clubs need to make serious offers (I assume Klopp was alluding to us) and this was before today's rejected offer. There's no doubting the great business Parish has done on players leaving the club but this saga has gone on too long and if you believe the reports Benteke actually wants to join us, I wouldnt blame him if he changed his mind after today's embarrassment.

If he forms a decent partnership with Dann for the next 2/3 seasons and we stay up then he's worth every penny and we would not have overpaid. Will just have to wait and see. I would imagine that the long winded investment deal that took place less than a year ago basically puts your last comment into the asylum. We have known since day 1 that Parish likes deals done on his terms, he will never change that but every year he has adapted and learnt from previous. This window has seen us recoup huge amounts on players we acquired for very little in reality whilst also adding players that are better than ones we currently have. We all know we need strikers but we all know our chairmen will not have their pants pulled down over a deal. I have every confidence they will get the deals we need done but they wont be held to ransom over them.
"They got his own song 'He's just too good for you', it's quite unbelievable but when you see it and he's facing up someone - I actually feel sorry for them, 'Cos he actually is" - Ian Holloway |
