Part of me can't help but think the whole thing is a massive PR scam stoked up by Parrish. With the Wilf speculation Palace are a constant presence in sports media. Without this story we are invisible. It's the only thing alerting anyone outside our fanbase to our existence. Certainly, Wilf staying could be portrayed as a great achievement and once again be used to mask no significant signings plus the sale of the best young defender in Europe. That would be very Parish.

If he stays we can get the standard press statement it's like a new signing It’s all a massive scam ......when Wilf says he’s staying we will all be so overjoyed we will forget we have no right back or anybody who can put the ball in the net. Then at the end of the season when we are relegated Wilf can leave for Arsenal for £40m.

Are you suggesting that Arsenal haven't made a number of, so far rejected, offers for Zaha and that Parish is planting a story in the media that will unsettle the player, the squad and the club, and make the already difficult recruitment task even harder? With what end in mind exactly? No, I'm not disputing that bids have been made, but I'm not sure that Parrish bends over backward to quash the rumours. Also not sure who is being unsettled, players and club, really? Or is just the supporters who work themselves into a lather. Over 3,000 responses here, not sure the training ground will be the same story.

I'm only putting forward the idea, as said above, it might get supporters in a bit of a state, but the club? Just supposing Zaha stays, we'll forget about it till the next transfer window and all will be hunky dory.

Roy stating he has no idea if Wilf has asked for a move and expects him back at the club shortly following his break. Only one of these things can be true.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle EEverton have told Crystal Palace they are prepared to pay £60 million plus striker Cenk Tosun for Wilfired Zaha, but fear they could miss out to Chelsea. Telegraph Sport understands that Chelsea are weighing up a bid for Zaha that would take him to Stamford Bridge once the club have served their transfer ban. Chelsea are currently serving their two-window ban and cannot sign players this summer. They have lodged an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, but the fear remains they will also be prevented from making any new signings in January. That may suit Palace, as it would most likely allow Zaha to spend the coming season at Selhurst Park and would also improve their chances of signing Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi, who spent last season on loan with the Eagles. Chelsea are yet to make any firm move for 26-year-old Zaha, but the playersis thought to be aware of their potential interest in setting up a transfer for when their ban ends. Everton want to do a deal now and have indicated a willingness to send Tosun to Palace as well as pay £60m, which is far closer to Palace’s valuation of Zaha and is comfortably more than Arsenal’s first bid of £40m. ‘Palace have previously been interested in Tosun and Everton are making it clear how serious they are by offering to shatter their transfer record to try to land Zaha. But the former Manchester United forward has made it clear that he wants to join a club that he believes will compete in the Champions League and favours a move to either Arsenal or Chelsea. With Arsenal currently struggling to come up with the funds to match Palace’s £80m valuation, Chelsea may see an opportunity to offer a deal that could suit all parties.’

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle Zaha won’t want to go to Everton because they won’t make the champions league for years and even if they do it’ll be short lived. But Chelsea is very very possible and he stays for one season, that suits us and he knows he’s got his move secured. It could be fabricated bollox but it’s the most believable thing I’ve seen this summer.
