Going, going, gone. Voting is not like buying an ill-fitting shirt from M&S, there is no returns policy in politics.

Maybe But when it turns out that Britain can't afford to leave the EEA - or at least the European Single Market - and so free movement remains a requirement I suspect there may be quite a few people that want their money back. This vote was overwhelmingly about immigration in the end. It is a shame that the Labour party probably won't be able to remove someone who has proved himself a pretty useless leader, it is in nobody's interests to have a weak opposition. Corby seems to me pretty selfish, he is so 'principled' that he fails to fully grasp he is there to represent the people.

So after the Seismic shock of leaving the EU and the end of the World predictions if we did, everything seems to be quite normal in my part of Kent.

Not my own words but.... A Prime Minister resigned. The £ plummeted. The FTSE 100 lost significant ground. But then the £ rallied past February levels, and the FTSE closed on a weekly high: 2.4% up on last Friday, its best performance in 4 months. President Obama decided we wouldn't be at the 'back of the queue' after all and that our 'special relationship' was still strong. The French President confirmed the Le Touquet agreement would stay in place. The President of the European Commission stated Brexit negations would be 'orderly' and stressed the UK would continue to be a 'close partner' of the EU. A big bank denied reports it would shift 2,000 staff overseas. The CBI, vehemently anti-Brexit during the referendum campaign, stated British business was resilient and would adapt. Several countries outside the EU stated they wished to begin bi-lateral trade talks with the UK immediately. If this was the predicted apocalypse, well, it was a very British one. It was all over by teatime. Not a bad first day of freedom. Your post has proven that all this bullsh1t about us being an outcast and heading for trouble with the EU on posts this forum is absolute cr@p. We are now in a position to work out our own trade deals. All the heads of state and the bank of England Boss have all suddenly changed their minds and said the opposite to what they said before the vote. I also notice that there are a few more countries now heading for a referendum on being members of the corrupt EU and we could have started something big. The Labour party is in turmoil and another two of their MP's have resigned due to Corbyn being their leader...Watch this space as things are going to change big time in the very near future. Well done to Cucking Funt for your post!

I don't see many in the PLP willing to follow him even unto death, do you?

I've been lurking, reading, taking this thread in. Whilst I won't indulge in the willy waving, I will say this; not all us young 'uns who voted to Remain are sour, or bitter, about the specific decision to leave the EU; currencies bounce back, markets recover etc. What I think is happening, if I can draw on anecdotal evidence, is there's a generation disillusioned with the country they live in, and the social commentary this whole thing has provided; it has supposedly legitimized racism, xenophobia and discrimination. I'm far more aggrieved at the turn out for young people than I am the older generation deciding a future they won't get to see, so my generation (and younger) have only theirselves to blame. The disinterest in politics is a lengthy subject, whether that be social disconnect, political betrayal or the fact that we're particularly guilty of taking things for granted, but all of this has been exacerbated by one thing; poor campaign messages and a lack of leadership, particularly for the Remain Campaign. It's abdunatly clear that the Leave Campaign used lies, misinformation and downright myths to win people over, and the Remain campaign was woefully undercooked, lacked conviction and failed to actually influence fence-sitters. Personally, despite voting Remain, I have no issue in principle with leaving the EU, but a hell of a lot of my friends and people I know voted in an attempt to show solidarity and defiance against a UK where Nigel Farage can be taken seriously. Fundamentally, it disgusts a lot of us to see people beating their chest, proclaiming they've got their country back, calling out Europeans to pack their bags and reveling in a mindset that has no place in a modern world. Not all leavers are racists, and I'd certainly not wish to undermine anyone's opinions or views, particularly fellow HOL'ers, but to say we're all sour and bitter is just wrong. We're disillusioned to see the country so split, for so many social dinosaurs legitimized and for so many to be hoodwinked by myths and misinformation. It is what it is; I don't like it, I'll continue to be disheartened by some of the views and actions others are taking, and I worry about where this rabbit hole leads, but all any of us can do is role up our sleeves and get on with it. First of all we the older generation have seen a bit more of what has happened to the Common market that was originally signed up to and it is now a federal State run by France and Germany. We have at last got the power back to make it Great Britain again for you the younger generation and beyond. I am afraid that the second bit I highlighted is because the so called lies you mentioned came from both sides as happens in any debate although I would not call them lies but wrong comments. BOTH sides did it not only Brexit.
