Liverpool know we are desperate for a striker.
They have set a price.
They know that if our club doesn't meet that price and the deal falls through, supporters will turn on the club accusing it of "Penny pinching", not going that extra mile and the like.One can only imagine the furore directed at Mr Parish !
Liverpool know they can play "Hard Ball" and so do our club.

If we are going to have some sort of negotiating strategy then we need a serious alternative. We must have a figure that we will go up to, just offer that as a final offer. If rejected then move on and stop wasting time, points are at stake.

i think the thing with this is nobody on here knows what is occuring, we all read the snippets fed to the press, add 2+2 together and make 7, i would like to make an educated assumption that talks etc are going on but not being made public, at the end of the day both clubs are businesses, liverpool apparently want 32mil we apparently dont want to pay that, bit like buying a used car...but with a overpaid footballer in the middle, so the bin dippers must have a lower figure that will be acceptable likewise we have a top figure.
