Focussing on the game only ;

We have an inherent weakness at defending set pieces. I don't believe this to be down to lack of training / preparation / allocation of responsibilities. But it smacks of it. Richards was culpable for their first two goals yesterday. Simply not good enough at this level. And our goalkeepers struggle with the physical specimen that is Ben friggin' White is a cause for concern.

We had to chase the game at two nil down, Arsenal are one of the best teams around in counter attacking. And so their third was disappointing but had some inevitability about it. I could have just about accepted that scoreline and had a forlorn hope we may pull a goal back and give the game an air of respectability. Because outside of their goals, Arsenal did little to hurt us.

Then came the substitution of Nat Clyne. That opened up the right flank for Martinelli - I bet he couldn't believe his luck. I thought those goals distorted the game somewhat but was also indicative of the muddled thinking behind the use of subs.

Largely agree with this.
But how many of us would have substituted right back Clyne with central midfield player Ahamada playing out of position and woefully exposed?
It was almost setting him up to fail when the game was already gone.
Pointless is more ways than one.

Thank you so much, it is always nice to put a face to a name.

You looked so chipper before the game. I suspect that after that abject defeat you had the look of a gentleman facing disembowelment with a rusty grapefruit knife.

Yes, we trudged out in a discombobulated manner

That substitution was beyond me. I usually try to put myself in Roy's shoes when it comes to analysing his decisions, but that one has me stumped.

If I'm clutching at straws then the best I can come up with is that Richards was supposed to move to right back after Clyne was subbed, but that for some reason wasn't communicated.

Nice one guys. I’m guessing it wasn’t a sober affair?

Having said that I’ve just read through and saw ‘non alcoholic beverage.’ Surely not. I couldn’t have got through that match in a pub without at least half a dozen Cervezas.

We're not great at attacking them either. That's well over 100 corners we've had that we've failed to score from, though at least Arsenal scored their 3rd direct from our corner, though I doubt that can be seen as progress.

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.

We’ve been poor at corners since Benteke left to be honest. He used to attack the cross in both boxes and loved heading the ball. I watched the MOTD post match analysis of what Arsenal did and they reckon Anderson was the designated ball attacker. Neither he nor Guehi are that type of centre half. Anderson showed no intent to attack the ball and just stood still allowing Trossard to block him. I’m not sure where Guehi was and Richards needs to spend some time in the gym if he’s going to be a centre half. Way too easily bullied. The lad we sold to Lyon was a better centre half than those three!

The third goal was Hughes fault for chipping the cross straight to their keeper then jogging back making no attempt to get near Trossard. The last 2 goals just showed how awful Roy is when it comes to substitutions and that it’s time Tomkins was put out to pasture. All the speed of a knackered cart horse!

Our current squad of players would play and perform better with a different Manager even allowing for injuries.
Roy has to go.

Firstly you are going to have to persuade a quality ambitious manager to take on a squad with limited EPL grade players and a lot of at best championship players or unproven younger players, none of which are currently in demand by other EPL clubs plus an inadequate transfer budget which Parish wants to control in his quest to seek low value unwanted players or sick notes. The positions they play in don’t matter as long as they are cheap sick notes or loans so that he can pin a squad number on their back. When everyone is fully fit we have at best 7/8 players that are good enough for this league, the rest just make up numbers and when the core players are injured or away on International duty then Roy has some square pegs that he has to find holes for them to fit in to. As for the younger players I have not seen any of them excelling which shows just how difficult it is to move from U21 level to the top flight in elite football.

Neither Eze nor Olise excelled when they first got minutes with us. They needed time to adapt to PL football and they had both been roaring successes in the Championship.

None of our current youngsters who have had minutes in the first team have been given the time needed to adapt so it's far too early to judge them IMO. Giving them 10 minutes here and 10 minutes there isn't going to tell us much.

We need to see both Franca and Ozoh starting games (not both at the same time) and more importantly, starting in their best positions not as square pegs in round holes as has been happening with both Franca and Ahamada and to an extent Ozoh (who is very much a box-to-box player in the Academy games).

Furthermore, IMO, Hodgson's comments about the young players this season have done more harm than good.

It's time he moved into retirement IMO.

Read the banner, no criticism of players, it's challenging the club for the wasted potential. It's stating a simple and obvious fact. If you had travelled up to Everton and then had to watch this would you have been cheering and waving your little scarf when the fifth goal went in?

No I was not at the match, I am however a season ticket holder, in the expensive seats, and have been for over 40+ years, consider this with the crap about the present owners, since we have been in the premier league the following teams have been relegated
Norwich, Fulham x3, Cardiff x2, Hull x2, Burnley x2, QPR, Villa, Norwich x3, Newcastle, Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Swansea, Stoke, WBA, Huddersfield, Bournemouth, Watford x2, Sheff utd, Southampton, Leeds, Leicester.
So a BOD with no plan, my ar,,, plus of course the training ground and academy, pretty good record in my books, I have no issue with fans venting their anger, but a premeditated,( they took the banners there before result), at an away game, is nonsense, by all means have a Protest at Selhurst outside before a game, by the Directors entrance, i will happily engage with you there, it’s my entrance, then get in and support the team regardless,
