And perhaps I won't. Perhaps I'll be sitting back having a smoke and a few pints instead of singing about my burning concern over an issue I can't affect. This is not an issue you can ignore, you will be affected. But yes, you can choose to remain ignorant. Maybe blame the great God of the volcanoes when a tree gets blown on your house or the local woods go up in flames again. A good idea would be to move to Australia, some very cheap Real Estate due to snowflakes over-reacting to a bit of rising damp and a couple of bonfires.

It's about accepting something I can't do anything about. When someone comes up with an idea that involves everybody that will actually help it might be different. Unless that idea is stopping people from flying around the world for a holiday or banning car journeys of under a mile. How would they go down?

Probably the best descriptive take down of the WEF that I've heard for a while. [Tweet Link]

Alex Antic is an anti vaxer with a history of controversial views. From his Wiki page:- “Factionally, Antic is a ‘broker for the right faction’ within the South Australian Liberals. He has been a guest on far-right programs, including Steve Bannon’s podcast, was set to be the MC for a speaking tour of Donald Trump Junior, and was a guest at a ‘prayer and pushback’ forum with disgraced former Hillsong preacher Pat Mesiti.” So it’s hardly surprising his view of the WEF is also controversial and chimes with those whose views also are.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

Once again, it's attack the source and don't deal with the message. From the guy who directly said not to do that with his own links. You know it's remarkable just how many people who aren't social liberals or left wing seem to be described as 'far right'. People can draw their own conclusions from that. The people who write these things know hardly anything about the 'far right'....I have to chuckle to hear Steve Bannon being called far right....they have no idea what they are talking about. They are clowns and don't seem to know what the far right actually thinks. In fact this abuse of language almost makes me want to see them faced and deal with the actual truth.....lying and ignorance shouldn't be able to hide away. Perhaps if they couldn't escape the truth - the consequence of their seemingly obsessional need to undermine a society that worked - then they wouldn't abuse the truth so easily. You can attempt to undermine anti globalist attitudes by throwing around the usual tropes, but it doesn't change simple truths. Multi nationals will always try to absorb, dismantle or destroy any competition. Their ultimate aim is to make the world one homogenous mass of consumers where they are the single provider. That is capitalism. Globalism does not serve the individual, the nation state or the future of the planet. It has no interest in democracy, personal freedoms or security.

More or less correct. You lot might think otherwise, but unless the march towards AI and automation magically stops, Globalisation is inevitable. Defo not a fan of anti-vaxxers though. Like debating with religious extremists

Like debating with religious extremists Funny because I find the left wing more akin to religious nuts. Vaccinations are clearly a great human invention that have saved many lives. That is not the same as saying that any specific vaccine was safe or necessary. What we do know is that a pandemic has come and gone, and the vast majority of people who were vaccinated survived.

Like debating with religious extremists This is similar to the EU question. Thatcher started out a campaigner for the EU and voted yes. It's all about the direction these things are led down, that's what turned her from pro to anti (well anti the form the EU took). It's not about the fact that technology alters how the world works. It's about fighting for what that new world looks like. Corporate power seems to me just a new form of aristocracy, which wants its serfs back. I won't eat z bugs.
