I was hoping we would have agreed a loan swap with the Butland deal. I appreciate WB’s salary might be an issue but I’m sure there’s a deal to be done.

I think he's impressed for them in the last few games so they're probably likely to keep him.

Yeah annoyingly, he's played just before hte window and look ok.

TBH I'm not really keen on loaning him anyway, just kicks the problem down the road, and Ward and Clyne can manage this season

I'm agree that we need an extra body here permanently to play full-back. However I'm less optimistic than you in regards to Clyne and Wardy. It feels like Mitchell has been carrying an injury this season, and if we get another injury we are going to be seriously light.

It might be that a loan in this instance is the best option, so we can make a positive steps in the summer when contracts are up and the market isn't so hostile.

In the summer we could be looking forward to a season in the Championship.

We do have issues in defence.

It may be their natural demeanour but Mitchell and Guehi always look half petrified to me and I’m never overly confident when they’re around the ball. Ward is committed bless him but a terrible slow coach who attackers relish skinning. Clyne I understand, only popped into Selhurst Park to ask for directions and was offered a contract on the spot by Roy who happened to be passing reception at the time. Ferguson & Richards are still exchanging hilarious stories from the sick room of how they both managed to dupe our fitness team at the medical. Apparently Ferguson shoved his crutch up his jumper and Richards manoeuvred his wheelchair into the broom cupboard just in the nick of time.

While we are generally lauded in the football industry for giving youth a chance and producing great young players we are equally guilty of sometimes being over loyal to those exact same players. Mitchell is nowhere near at the same level that he was a year ago. If we are all honest we know he has a mistake in him every game. I'm not saying cast him into the wilderness or sell him to a lower league club. What I am saying is he needs to be dropped. Take him out of the spotlight and let him rebuild his form and confidence. It sends the right message to the rest of the squad too.
Obviously we need good cover in both full back positions. We haven't had that since PVA left but I'd still currently play Schlupp at left back (who played there for us and Leicester in the past) rather than Mitchell. As for the right, I do see a place in the team for AWB but there are more affordable options when you look at how much its all going to cost.

i think we need to switch to 3 CD, and 2WBs for a spell, Schlupp is ideal for WB, and Loan to buy that one from Turkey
