i think it was around the 1700's that the Tories & the Whigs used to attend parliament armed. Often tooled up with knives. Cos the two parties hated each other. jo cox, stephen timms, David Amess......... how many more ? I see the Left & Right at each others throat in England and there will be no winners in that fight. Only lots and lots of losers.

Only lots and lots of losers. In the Commons Chamber there are white lines on the floor that separate government and opposition which you are not supposed to cross. They are a swords length apart to keep them from stabbing each other. However I don't think they have found a solution to MPs stabbing each other in the back.

You’d have thought anyone intent on running someone through wouldn’t be deterred by a line on the ground.
