Opinion piece from 'Die Welt', a German broadsheet. (Google does a good job with the translation)... [Link]

In Germany's defence, old Ursula is not a popular lady at all even before this current vaccine debacle with her performance in a previous role as Germany's Defence minister roundly mocked by all parties. But this is withering and clearly, the entire 'AZ have ripped us all off, aided by those perfidious Brits' line is not being bought in the slightest.

100%. Even read of Irish people thanking the EU because they believe it was done by way of trying to protect them.

Whatever else people might think of the EU as an institution, how on earth can anybody still think this dreadful VDL woman should still be in post?

Don't get me wrong, I would hate for her to have to stand down and wish nothing more for her to carry on leading the EU for years and years to come but when will Remoamer types wake up to the fact that nobody ever cast a ballot for her to be doing that job? Is that really the s***-show they think we would be better off under?

You are wrong they did cast a ballot for her she was just the only name on that ballot. Democracy

I think you are being a tad harsh here. Let's be honest, it's a Friday and VDL has not had a good week. Probably hit the old vino a tad hard at lunch and just made a simple, honest mistake in imposing a hard border in Southern Ireland without actually telling the Irish Government
about it. A simple error. Happens all the time and we should not be too harsh on her. Personally, I hope we can all move on and that she gets to keep her job. I genuinely see no need for her to resign over such an easily made mistake. Not even a mistake really. A tiny error, almost minuscule and hyped up beyond all belief. All made better now.

Also I am becoming a little alarmed about all the grief Macron is getting around his claims concerning the efficiency of the vaccine on the over 65's. I suspect that few of us have as much experience as Mons.M in knowing what is good for an over 65-year-old.

I think this was quite disgraceful not even consulting the ROI. For years Remainers have claimed that EU power grab over national sovereignty was just a Brexiteer myth well we have now seen it in action.

Even if the person who did it made a mistake and did not understand the full implication you still cannot get around the fact they made a decision which directly impacted the Irish government and didn't consult them.

Shameful and dangerous.

Why have you done this?
It is obviously all a conspiracy theory concocted by the anti-EU cult. He is probably in deep discussion with fellow rejoiners as we speak

So, EU 'forgot' to tell the Irish Government that they were introducing a hard border. They have previous form when it comes to forgetting about nations; they once left Wales off of the map. England just ended at the border and where Wales once was, was just the Irish Sea.
Seems nobody in the EU checks anything concerning individual nations; it's just all one big 'country' with individual states.

hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing.
