How can a team push on with a striker that doesn't score!! We play out the back now so don't need a big guy who can hold the ball up we need a player on the defenders shoulder like AJ and Freeman used to do. Come on Roy sort it out.

I've watched the tackle 10-15 times now. There is no attempt to do anything that's involved with playing football, it is just a totally premeditated lunge at Zahas achilles. How it is not a sending off is a total mystery. Be interesting if Zaha was to take out a civil action against the player for common assault, because had he been seriously injured this would surely have been a reasonable course.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Capoue' by Midlands Eagle deserves a thread all to himself. Attempts a potentially 'career ending' injury on our best player, at the start of a season. Zero attempt to even get near the ball. That is even worse than Dele alli driving his knee into the spine of a grounded Cabaye. Enjoy the return fixture at Selhurst Mr Capoue, i am sure Roy will. If we go 2 or 3 goals up, i can see Roy bringing on a lumbering monster-sub for the last 5 minutes of the game.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Capoue' by Midlands Eagle The FA should have the power to give him at least a 3 game ban. The ref obviously missed the serious intent of the challenge, the fa should recognise this fact and ban the dirty c##t

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Capoue' by Midlands Eagle I don't usually post exactly the same thing on the BBS as here, obviously, but in this case I'm going to make an excpetion because I think the more people raise this with the FA the better. I think there needs to be as much noise as possible about this. The Club is limited in what it can say and do because the FA can just slap fines on everyone for daring to criticise the match officials, who are the only people here the FA really is interested in protecting. I've complained to the FA about this incident on the basis that whatever we might think about the fairness of decisions in terms of the result being a matter of swings and roundabouts it's just not on to have a system that refuses to investigate properly and thoroughly a direct threat to a player's safety which wasn't dealt with properly by a referee. If an airline pilot, or a nurse, or a policeman ignored something which threatened someone in their care with serious injury, he or she would be sacked. (Well, maybe not the policeman - they're as bent as football referees).

I woke up from a cat nap just as Ruud Gullit was analysing the game on MOTD2 - on about 40 minutes Watford suddenly went up a gear and we did not respond till after the second goal - did they just up their energy levels or was there a tactical change, e.g. put more pressure on our midfield duo, whatever it was Roy was far too slow to change it up, it was clear we were on the ropes 5 min into the second half - with that diagonal stripe and playing so cr*p it reminded me of watching us in the eighties, 0-0 draws at home to Shrewsbury etc, can't add any more to the Benteke and Capoue comments but Meyer looked absolute mustard to me, best positional awareness since David Wright!
