Another poster on I think it was the "Moaning thread" suggested playing Jairo as a Jan Molby type CM. What do people think? (Thinking of ways of getting him into the team whilst retaining PvA).

I've thought, for some time, that he might be tried in a no 10 role, making things happen around the box. He's a great passer and has good strength, too.

I take it this means that you think the suggestion is totally ridiculous. Why? I'd be interested in your reasons for such a comment.

Me too. I'm open to being persuaded by a strong argument.

There are people on here crying the last day or so that Riedewald was dropped for PVA. He is not a left back and never will be so why shouldn’t he be dropped for PVA. He got the fans player of the month so people expect him to be a regular starter and have the audacity to say that he could play as a number 10.

I agree that he should have been given a lot more chances in Luka’s position and has not been treated fairly but he is no full back and he is certainly not a number 10.

People on here banging on about his passing being great. Do you lot watch the games or do you sit there with your blinkers on blind to his faults ? Yes, he tries to pass the ball but it very rarely ends up with our own player. He did a decent job when thrown into the position but he was never going to keep it.

Totally disagree! And with (probably) the least creative midfield in PL (MacArthur, McCarty and Luka), there ought to be room for Jairo R. in the team. As left back he usually try to pass forward while PVA (had a good game vs the Blades) more often send the ball backwards.
Just feel it was wrong signal pulling the Dutch player out of the team after his January success.

Would love to see a "weaker" team start a match - instructed to go for it, with a bench full of quality. Would suggest four and five, with the first substitution at 55 minutes. The four would be those who have trained with the first team squad, and with only three substitutions one could impress for the whole 90 minutes. Five recognised first team players on the bench would give Roy many opportunities - think of Luca having a shorter time for bad passes, CB coming on with only his concentration span remaining, WZ with no need to conserve his strength, Jimmy Mac only having to give 35 minutes, COYP .

Let’s see Wilf left wing, Andros right wing, Meyer inside right, Riedewald inside left and Ayew centre forward. Are my tactics out of date?

Who would you have as left half?

That’s a tough call, probably Jimmy Mc, Kouyate on right. PVA, Tomkins and Ward make up the rest of the outfield. Sod it, let’s just play old school attacking football. If nothing else, if we lined up like this the opposition wouldn’t have a clue what to do.
