Hope I am not jumping the gun as we have not completed deal but If what I read is right Palace paying £170000 per week for someone who did not score any goals or assists last season and who it appears has been turned down by a number of big European clubs over his wage demands. At 22 to run your contract down is pretty unusual. Not sure what sort of message this sends to Wilf who cant agree a new contract supposedly considerably less than that quoted for Meyer. I appreciate Meyer is on a free but this represents £35m over next 4 years. As opposed to paying a £35M transfer fee and then minimum 80K a week? can't compare a free transfer to normal transfer.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Max Meyer ' by bexleydave I seriously doubt we are going to pay that much. The Shalke average annual wage was $2.14m per annum and that's forth highest in that league. Majority are on 1m or less. 80 to 90k per week is much more likely.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Max Meyer ' by bexleydave Fake news he's reported to have signed a 4 year deal on 80k a week, I'm sure he would have got a healthy signing on fee but every player who let's their contract run down always gets one, still works out cheaper for the club and is beneficial for both parties. Like when Chelsea pulled out of the barkley deal. A year ago he would have been a 30 mill player on 80k a week so an amazing signing for the club. Keep hearing people talking about what wilf is on, there was definitely talk he had a clause in the last contract he signed with us saying he would always be our best paid player or matched with our best paid player. Not sure how true it is tho.

I sincerely we aren't paying him £170 week. That's silly money and will totally wreck the club's fragile age structure.
