I agree for the most part. We should concentrate on aspiration and excelling in all fields. Some would say we're already doing that by encouraging all young people to go to uni, but all that succeeded in doing in watering down the quality of education and standard of degrees. Not everyone is suited to that environment anyway. We should also value what's left of manufacturing jobs, apprenticeships and the like. Opportunities in life that can lead to having a bit of pride in your work. Everything seems to be "service industry" nowadays.

Yawn. So come on Dan am I a racist? You seem to insinuate that anyone in here that have right wing leanings, let’s not beat about the bush, am I with my white privilege? I would like to know when you went to Uni? Did you have to pay fees? My daughter left her masters degree with over £50k debt, my sons course was not fully covered by student fees so cost us over £30k + accommodation, I’m white have I been privileged? You really are getting rather tiresome. If you don’t like the UK there is an answer

Essentially he discriminates against people based on the colour of their skin to assuage his own white guilt. He makes decisions about the careers of others to ensure he gets his hit of well-being. I am now convinced that virtue signalling gestures such as this are actually an addiction that can lead to potentially catastrophic consequences. It is pure serotonin chasing and is becoming increasingly prevalent. Everything people do is for reward of one kind or the other. Why on earth would those white people kneel like that of their own validation? A gun to the head, then I get it although I like to think that I would rather die but who honestly knows? So what do they get out of it? Has to be a buzz of somekind. And what comes next for them? Kneeling only works the once really. After that, the hit will not be so good. Will require even more subservience. But to do that voluntarily? Nah. Potentially turning points for me in all of this. There are a lot of Dan's sitting in interview rooms at the moment and yes, it certainly is ironic that they think they occoply a moral high ground. But hey, I regularly mock Dan, however I think the point that he's been honest here is commendable and I appreciate it. He's a product of his experiences and education just like every one of us. Personally, I think that as a representative for a business you should be interested in merit front and centre. However, lets be realistic, people hire what they like and that's never going to change. I don't want that to change actually....hire who you want. A talented guy/girl can always find a job elsewhere and while it's tough for the average....that's what life is....tough and unfair. Two secretaries walk in for the same interview....one young and beautiful and the other plain and older.....If the interviewer is a straight male we all know what's going to happen. Humans being humans doesn't bother me.....Personally It's more the double standards and and virtue signalling that p1ss me off. Edited by Stirlingsays (02 Jun 2020 5.36pm)

Do you honestly think black people have it exactly the same as white people when it comes to treatment, opportunity, prospects etc. in this country? You seem unable to see past your self (shock) so do you have an example for the class of when you, personally, have been held back in life or mistreated purely because of the colour of your skin? Edited by DanH (02 Jun 2020 4.01pm) I see people that work hard and act respectful generally get along way in life. Asians & Chinese do very well for them selves as do alot of professional black people.

No. This goes beyond this now. If it was just a case of the 'moral high ground' then I could live with it. No issues. We all like to think we live there at times and no harm done. But for me this has bought home the wider issue. Whenever there is a Jihadist terrorist attack we are constantly told that it is wrong to blame the Muslim community. Ditto with almost any act of violence. Yet the Left are now pushing this notion of 'white privilage' over and over again. It is embedded in their thinking, in their mindset. They want us ALL to bend the knee. If they purely wanted it only for themselves then fine. Bend your knee for whoever they want. No issues around that. But Dans confession of discrimination against white people really brings it home to me. There is no half-way house on this. There is no meeting of minds or all somehow bumbling along together. This is not about skin colour but about a simple divison between those who are Socially Conservative and those who are Socially Liberal. Conservative Lives Matter. That is it from now on for me. Already cut on person out of my life today who I considered a friend. Somebody I have been away on holiday with, shared family meals, helped out when in trouble. And found out that he goes around trying to dox people whose views he disagree with. Goes running off to social media companies to get them banned. A piece of s*** in my books. There can be no more pretence about us all being able to sit down and get along now. Brexit showed that and now the reaction of white liberals to this current s*** show? LOL. You talked about people being Red Pilled right? Well this is maybe my moment. f*** the Left.

I hire who I think is the best person for the job and who will fit best into the team/plug any skill or experience shortages we have. Typically that involves having a varying degree of type of person. I think you read my post reading what you wanted to read rather than what I was getting at. Edited by DanH (02 Jun 2020 6.06pm)

You talked about people being Red Pilled right? Well this is maybe my moment. f*** the Left. The irony I find in these situations is always that those who disagree the most often are the most similar. I remember when I went to India, and you see Muslims and Hindus, and you think, they live in the same squalor, they smoke the same cigarettes, they drink the same tea, yet they hate each other more than almost any other two groups on the planet. If you were someone coming from 19th century Britain, either liberal or conservative, you would look at our bickering and laugh. We all agree that slavery is bad (I think). We all agree that women should vote (I think). We all agree that children shouldn't work (I think). I'm saying this to you Matov because you are actually one of the better posters on here and it's be a shame if you end up as embittered as some. From my part, the thing that worries me most is that I see Fascism as something which can very easily stem from the liberal Western democracies we live in. It happened with us as an Empire, it happened in Germany, and when I look at the US, with the military taking to the street and hundreds of thousands of poor people dying needlessly and a President who, I think, is not averse to completely circumventing democracy to remain in power...it's worrying.
If punk ever happened I'd be preaching the law, instead of listenin to Lydon lecture BBC4 |
