I do air on the negative side generally, don’t shoot me down for my view. I think we may get a draw against Leicester (bad feeling they’ll beat us though) but I really think Stoke will want it/ need it more and beat us. I think this will come down to our last game against West Brom where anything can happen the way there playing lately. I also think Southampton could well get three wins in their last 4 fixtures. We need to play the next game like it’s a cup final to put any of these scenarios behind us.

So southampton whi have amassed a huge 29 points from 34 games are suddenly going to get at least 9 from their next 4? So how did your analysis come up with that trolley?

Even if Southampton and Stoke were to win cause of the points they take of Swansea would mean they can only get to 36pts if they were to lose to City & Chelsea therefore if we got 1pt our goal difference would see us above Swansea.

However now we are above Huddersfield they too would drop before us.

Cant see three of the 5 teams below us getting to 36 points .
We will be well clear though so no worries

Why the abuse? All Ecopalace has done is describe a perfectly feasible negative scenario, concluding that in his view we need to go for it against Leicester. Some posters think 1 more point will be enough; Eco clearly doesn’t, so then you make the trolley accusation.

Eco didn't say he thinks Southampton will win 3 of their 4 games. ‘Could’ was the word used. Well indeed they could, but they could alternatively win 4 games, 2, 1 or none at all.

Let’s hope so. BTW: my grammar has a lot to be desired and I have dyslexia, so you’ll have a field day with me.

It was just one stray word, which may have been because of ‘autocorrect’ for all I know. Your grammar is fine IMO and your posts are very well constructed. Clearly some on HOL don’t accept pessimistic scenarios though!

Just out of interest, do you know this to be a fact, or because he has told you on here?

Jacey may also know it to be a fact, but I can vouch for Willo having been a Palace fan since the 60's (as am I) as I worked with him for 4 or 5 years in the eighties and he was as much a fan then as he is now. Yes, he may be pessimistic and posts negatively sometimes, and he does fight his corner when criticised and does use some unusual words in his posts, but please don't ever accuse him of not being a genuine Palace fan, because he is.

Thank you. I just wanted to put forward that possibility although I agree it was pessimistic. I’d like nothing more than for Palace to win their remaining 4 games, I’m a massive fan & find myself contemplating scenarios throughout most days. It’s been quite a season with some ups and and quite a few downs. After the start we had I’d take the position we are in right now every day. Against Leicester we have a chance at home to crush any pessimism and secure safety if we treat the game like a one off cup final.

Hopefully, things will be a little clearer after we beat Leicester next week!

I live in Southampton land. My God, everyone is down and the end is nigh. I have hope and a spring in my step.
I do think support, passion and the crowd contribute something, and that if my neighbours actually did have more than just one song, things may be different for them. Looking forward to Leicester - they're starting there summer hols, we will still be fighting for everything. We don't need to spend shedloads this summer - look at Burnley or Bournemouth - just a few less mistakes please...

I agree with Ecopalace, we need to give everything against Leicester.

Even if Swansea beat both Southampton and Stoke they can both still end on 38 and 37 points respectively. Forget Huddersfield, assume they will pick up one or two points. Hope Roy makes as much clear to the players

Reading the Saints forum it seems that most if not all of them have accepted relegation as inevitable and more strangely a lot of them are so certain that they are going down they have put a bet on it!
