I really do not understand why our ability to have a decent transfer window seems to be beyond us. In this window we seemed to spend a considerable amount of time trying to sign players that were not and never were going to available to play for us in the second half of this season. Whoever is responsible for identifying targets should be fired as we.never seem to have a plan,, hence no real improvement in quality proven players for the squad!

Well for a club that does not know how to do transfers we currently sit unlucky for some 13th. If you would support my gran in goal, we would lose every game 25 nil and would get relegated out of the league system before long. Personally I would like us to stay in the Premier League, above blindly supporting any human being as our preferred keeper. Will tell my gran about your confidence in her, she will be chuffed. The last 2 transfer windows show we don’t know what we are doing re transfers.

The issue is how we go about trying to sign those players. Not getting a keeper signed is not down to the scout - he dug up Guaita. It’s down to our p*** poor approach to negotiations, and lack of focus on solving key problems. The keeper situation has been going on for years, literally. We only have 2 and the gaffer doesn’t fancy either of them. Until TFM came in we didn’t really have a right back to challenge ward. We have loaned 2 premier league players we have absolutely no chance of buying. We have loads of players out of contract at the same time at the end of this season, including our 2 current goalkeepers. We failed to sign a striker in the last window leaving us with one recognized forward. Thankfully we actually addressed that finally in this window. If zaha gets injured we are totally screwed as we don’t have a player who is remotely similar and could even give us 50% of his output. We cannot ever seem to sell our deadwood. We leave critical negotiations to the last minute of the window leaving deals open to collapse with no chance to react - Niasse for example. We play stupid games and put false narratives out there and mess around for weeks on end - Mamadou for example. The list goes on, it’s amatuer hour.

The last 2 transfer windows show we don’t know what we are doing re transfers. er, no. What it shows is that you have no idea about what it takes to scout, research, approach and negotiate a transfer, unless of course you have a direct line to the club and are a part of the negotiation team. Otherwise, you are basing your opinion simply on press releases which are nearly always unreliable and always launched way after any team has started any negotiations. Maybe one or two of these players will come good. I wouldn't bet on it with our past record though. Only established players seem to have come in and done adequately. Some of them have been pretty poor too. The last 'unknown' I can remember coming good is Ian Wright. Ward has been decent and wasn't much money - that's about it. Seems he is off to wherever Pulis is at the end of the season anyway. I'd never heard of Milivojevic until this time last and he has been fantastic.

Edited by europalace (03 Feb 2018 5.48am) We didn’t sign a striker in the last window - we had one fit striker of premier league class, who got injured, and we had to play 2 wingers up top. We blew the Tosun deal according to his agent, then left Niasse so late that when it crumbled we had no time to sort someone else out, and didn’t replace Mandanda = fail. This time around we messed around and played chicken on Guaita, ballsed that up, then didn’t have time to get the Ronnow deal done. Our manager said 50 times we needed to have 3 goalies = fail.

If you can furnish evidence to prove that we only approached at the 11th hour then you will win this mini argument. If not, then you will not. My guess: we try to do business under the radar given the number of poaches we suffer. I suspect Dougie et al have been forced to sweat for months waiting to see if the hoped linked deal will come off at Brondby. For no fault of our own it did not. Perhaps the recent statements from the Brondby Manager and President about Palace's conduct both this window and the Summer, may suggest I have not lost this argument this one appears to be all our fault.

And that reinforces the view I expressed earlier, which is that whilst Parish doesn't need to "sell the club and f*** off", he does need to hand over the management of transfer dealings to someone who is good at it. He isn't, he isn't getting in the players we need, he's jaopardising our retention of coaching staff and managers, and he's not presenting the club in a good light by doing it the way he is or as a hobby alongside the "real" job of running the club, which is a complicated enough business as it is and will only get more complicated when we start rebuilding stands. He did have a decent window a year ago when we got Sakho on loan, Milivojevic, Schlupp and van Aanholt, and last time he should have had de Boer on board but he threw his toys about and f***ed off, but this time he's had a DoF and a top manager to support and advise and we've ended up making an arse of it. Not too bad from the point of view of prospects for the future but from the point of view of securing our future in the Premier League: f***ing s***e. So as well as a Director of Football we need a Director of Playing Staff who deals with all this s*** and keeps it away from Parish. This has to be sorted out before the next window comes along. And no I don't mean that t*** from Wet Spam who spent the whole window trying to hijack our purchases then got himself sacked by sending that ridiculous tweet.
