i personally see wickham as a very similar situation to murray. for 1 minute, forget the promotion season, as had wickham been up front that season he would have scored 30 goals for us also. been injured for 18 months and has had to work his way back into the 1st team squad, both are quite similar players and connor could do a very good job for us given the chance/minutes. i know connor doesnt have the history murray had with us but he deserves the same amount of support, and if he gets his form back, we potentially have 7 yearsof decent striking ability from connor. he has ability galore, you dont lose that ability..only Ha ha. That’s brilliant. I had the ump this morning and this nonsense cheered me up a bit.

If he’s fit enough to play, he’s worth a f*ck sight more than that and if he’s not fit, no one’s going to take him anyway. And there’s no point loaning him while he’s fit and useful and we just pay his wages while he’s injured. The championship and premier league are two very different beasts. You can do something of ‘a job’ for a team somewhere in the championship but be a complete waste of time and a squad place in the premier League. We’ve hung onto dross far too much in the recent past and even if you were once okay, it’s no good if you can’t play and haven’t played for so long we’ve almost forgotten you’re here.

Personally I think this is a make or break season for Wickham. A loan to either Stoke or Bristol City would in my eyes benefit player and club but if they offered 3-4m for Wickham I would snap their hands off.
I think that he has shown in preseason that he is back to fitness and could be a real asset this season. I think if he stays and plays he will be our top scorer.

He showed glimpses of his best the last time he had a run of games at full fitness. I wouldn’t write him off yet as an on form Wickham is probably our best striker at present.

"Stoke City put in three-way battle with Bristol City and Reading for Crystal Palace striker" Can't see it happening but still...

Wickham will be off if the right deal presents itself. He still doesn’t look fit to me and I don’t think he currently has what it takes at Premier League level. I’d like him to prove me wrong obviously

I think we would be mad to let him go after all the effort to get him fit. I think he at least needs a go till Christmas. He does look like he is well off the boil to me but stranger things have happened. Also he looks no worse than Benteke at this present moment.

We are very short of strikers, the last time the club got rid of a striker who was considered "past his prime" it was Glenn Murray,Wickham has shown tenacity In getting back to fitness, the same tenacity may see him net a lot of goals. Edited by beak (04 Aug 2019 9.54pm)

If we can get a reasonable fee for him it has to be better than letting his contract run down and get nothing.

In the long term it could be great to build his fitness and confidence. In the short term, a strike force of Benteke and Ayew?! Dougie et al must be very confident that other strikers are coming in...
