I sit next to a practising muslim woman at work.I know for sure who is the more tolerant (and more repressed)out of her and Hrolf in their general attitudes. It may be doubted as to whether he's actually personally known a muslim in his life.. As for "caribbean-style mentality" of our youth tosh, has Hrolf actually examined the latest stats released by the Met covering 2015-16 re knife crime...very significant numbers of white and other non- Caribbean origin youngsters...Knife crime is indeed a serious concern of our time...but has very British roots in this country and featured heavily in "our" culture in the 19th century.Perhaps there was even a Hrolf the Eveready to use a blade in Victorian Norwood? Meanwhile, some people on here accuse Nick G of being a bigot and a racist....strange days indeed,as John Lennon put it. Blah blah blah.... Insinuations... blah blah blah... assumptions. Produce your figures.

They feel they have power being covered from head to toe, going out to buy chicken or mutton and vegetables everyday, sometimes leaving husband at home with multiple wife, apparently. We're behind the times and thinking. This is based on what? I know Muslim women who don't wear a headscarf , I've worked with those that do and I've chatted with mums at parents evening who have had the full face veil. All lovely people. I found the full face veil disconcerting at first, I won't deny it, but it turned out with one of them that I knew her cousin who worked at another school I had worked at. I certainly didn't get the sense that she was on some sort of power trip. I'm a bit meh about the veil myself. The fact that women wear it because men can't control their urges is a bit of a s*** reason (I wonder if irony is lost on those people that have said 'it's disgusting they have to cover up ' but have also said 'she probably deserved it dressed like that'? However there are many many Muslim women who like the modesty of the veil, only showing herself off to those close. It should however be the woman's choice whether she wears he garb or not.

So, as usual, you avoid explaining the obvious contradiction of your position with some cheap, predictable, debate closing accusatory bollocks. You really are just an empty vessel.

What a lot of utter apologist cobblers. Apply that rationale to Western women and see where that gets you.

Covering their modesty of their ankles and cheeks is apparently empowering. You're excusing wearing it in a western Country? Years ago I dealt with men wearing their full nikah outfit but the full female veil? No. They change, not us. Others have, they can too. Not everything, just integrate with some basic principles of being able to see the person and them being more equal to men might be a good place to start. Other Muslims have adjusted.
