Hoof your points about Germany and France make some sense but politically, Germany especially (who rely on the EU remaining together for the Euro as it pushes down the price of their currency allowing them cheaper exports) would want to make an example so that Holland etc would not also want to leave. Would take the short term hit for long run stable EU

Yeah I feel at home in Paris being shot at by terrorists and bombs going off, oh and of course people jabbering away in a foreign language. Just like London. Economically, it is clear, incredibly clear, we will be worse off for leaving. If someone could explain how we would be made better off I would love to hear it. Arguments about reduction in red tape or free to do other trade deals do not stand up. Our deal that would eventually come (after about 10 years as the Eu would string it out to make an example of the UK) would mean abiding by the red tape they have over goods and services. Furthermore, the red tape often includes things like safety of produce - a good thing for EU citizens. UK exports to EU countries = 45% In 2008 the 2 crossed at 50% and since then exports to EU countries are still falling and exports to countries outside of the EU are rising. With regards, to EU exports into the UK. I suppose they're not bothered about losing sales if we're such a large trading partner. It'll take time to work things out/negotiate and, as it happens, we don't actually leave on 24th June anyway. 2 years at least isn't it? Undoubtedly there'll be some difficulties but adapt we can. Did Germany keep with a short-term mindset during the 1950s-'80s when rebuilding their economy? Shall we just always focus on the next 2 years and s0d the next decade or 2 or 3? We've done that for too long and it never really gets us anywhere. No forward planning. Fire fighting all the time. Cameron has conveniently forgotten his dislike of the EU for his own preservation. Talk of leaving all forgotten. Suits his economic career span.

I can't see any of the French Farmers, VW, Audi or Mercedes dwelling too long not earning from British exports whilst the EU makes an example of us.... can you? Money talks.
