Perhaps councils will start acting like places in the USA do for NFL. They would do literally anything to have an NFL franchise in their area.

Little is made of the benefits of football clubs to local businesses and the community in England. They are not really considered an amenity by those that govern.

To be fair, as much as I'd like to see Palace have a nice new stadium, the system in the US is a joke. Billionaire owners holding cities to ransom, demanding that they build/improve stadiums or they threaten to take the team elsewhere. It's horrible and makes the West Ham/Man City deals look almost fair by comparison.
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |
