Television presenter Sue Perkins has quit Twitter after receiving death threats following speculation she could replace Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear. The Great British Bake Off presenter revealed on Tuesday that someone had said "they'd like to see me burn to death". Writing on Twitter, she denied she is to replace Clarkson and announced she was leaving the social media platform.
Edited by imbored (14 Apr 2015 2.01pm) She should blame the media who invented the original story. They know they're being WUMs with their "suggestions". I don't know why anyone famous pays any attention to twitter though. I had a look at Lineker's one, after he posted something to Steve Parish on Saturday, and every other reply was "shat" this "shattest" that and the "shatting" other. Is shat a twitter thing?

Or she could blame the person who wanted to see her burned to death. This whole bizarre affair can be boiled down to people thinking they are beyond being held responsible for their own behaviour. As for famous people, I guess often it's a desperation to stay current and keep in the spotlight. I agree that it's most a pointless, hostile environment though.

It was also one of many retarded posts, presumably, so the driving force is the media. The media should report, not invent, the news.

If a person sends a tweet to someone telling them that they want to see them burn to death it's their fault for doing so. This thread has become so laughably removed from taking responsibility for aggressive and violent behaviour, that it's completely jumped the shark at this point. I'm not going to read and report a million items.
