If that article is correct that they "hope to have made an appointment by the end of next week" (which seems plausible), we're looking at the week after next, at the earliest, if either of those two are still targets for us. Well be going into week six by then.
Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

We move in the direction of our thoughts. |

It is noticeable that Hull, Leeds, Middlesbrough and Sunderland don't seem to have had the same problems as we have in appointing a new manager But they all have very different priorities to us.
Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five! |

Thing is, if it ends up being one of the names on the list all along, then we really have wasted a f*** load of time for no real reason

Chris Hughton!!
Joe Hart looks angrier than a kid with no Easter eggs, David Silva looks like he won't smile for a week. Vincent Kompany has taken his shirt off and looks like he might just start a fight with himself. The visiting dressing room will be a glum place. |

I think that while we have every right to be frustrated with how long this process is taking, we must trust that Steve Parish is doing his best to get the right man in. A lot of what is published in the press is just filling up page space - look at the recent Mirror claim re Silva, promptly dismissed by SP. Our ( supposed ) targets will be aware that jobs other than the Palace one could become available as has been proven this week when Southampton sacked their manager. This is as difficult an appointment that he has had to make. He can't afford a costly mistake. We will have somebody in place by the end of the month, I am sure of that. SP plays his cards pretty close to his chest so it's reasonable to expect a sudden announcement that he has found his man.

I am sure that SP appreciates the smokescreen that the media provides. In 2016/17 Season there were fewer sackings than the previous season. the movement of so many managers indicates that balancing is taking place. SP has indicated that he wants a lasting appointment of someone younger than we have been having - hope this extends to some of our young players, we could have the next Harry Kane (23) or dele Alli (20) on the Palace books; no one will know if they are just submitted to being damaged during lower league loans. Both sides must complete due diligence and hammer out a deal that both can agree to. In the case of Dyche that would also mean negotiating his release and allowing Burnley to try to get him to stay, if they wanted to. I think everyone has known for some time that Southampton were in the market and no candidate for that job was going to move until they got off the pot. Personally I Don't want us in the same place as we were last Christmas: we were lucky that time. Edited by chateauferret (16 Jun 2017 9.11am)
