It's possible May believed, that with such a strong lead, now would be the best time to push through these unpopular policies, as, even if she drops a few points and looses a few votes, she will still get in with an increased majority.

I don't know about "possible" as I think that it was highly probably that this was the real reason for calling the snap election that she always claimed that she would never do.

I find myself in a very difficult position as I'm a traditional Conservative but just can't warm to Mrs May.

I also abhor fox hunting as I believe do the overwhelming majority of Brits and would hate to see it sneaked back in against the will of the people

I agree with you that it was highly likely. As a neutral, I think a lot of Conservative supporters I have spoken with, like yourself, aren't happy with May's manifesto and one of them even said he wont vote for her, as a tactic to reduce her majority so she gets ousted after the election. A mate of mine, who used to work in the press thinks that the rise of social media outlets such as Twitter and Facebook have also hampered her campaign, as while a lot of the newspapers have been supportive, the problem is the opposition and their supporters have been able to use social media outlets to highlight these policies.

At first I genuinely thought this was a spoof.

But it's real.

Just because Mrs May called an election about brexit does not mean she wants to debate it with anybody else.

So a good opportunity for Corbyn to enter the fray and explain to voters why 'no deal' is not in our interests.

He has been quite straight with issues generally so let it continue.

Will Theresa May lose her jobseeker’s allowance for failing to turn up for interview?

Nice try at diversion but nothing can take away from the fact that the Corbyn is a Communist and an apologist for terrorists who would not defend this country.
All the media shenanigans in the world will not change that.

Be careful what you wish for my naive friends.

Not only policies she wants to get through with a big enough majority once having a mandate to do so. She wants to sell off some assets.

The Land Registry
Forestry (part of)

She wants to be Maggie II but doesn't know how.
