Just wish parish would go all out and bring lampard in proven to help bring youngsters through. Wouldnt have been my first choice with the likes of nuno and favre but still lampard could be a decent appointment. He might not want the job.
In dog beers I’ve only had one. |

I think it is almost certain he doesn't want the job, otherwise I would think he would already be our manager. I remember hearing that Cooper had topped the shortlist after the interviews and then up popped Nuno and Favre. So perhaps Parish is going back to Cooper.

What a truly bizarre post. Terry’s a cnut who gives a f***? Wasn't he poached from West Ham as a junior? Shows his loyalty (not sure if he is/was a hammer but he is from that area). And no I wouldn't have him as a manager and Mullery would be above him as my choice. A very odious person. Cooper would be my choice as we seem to be shopping in Poundland
Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course). |

Lampard won't sign anything until his severance contract with Chelsea ends or he is paid up by them. A sensible friend if mine has suggested our long term issue with attracting manager's is to do with severance pay if they are sacked, salary and bonuses and budget for transfers. Add Their staff demands and the spectre of a takeover hanging over the club at the moment, you can see why we cannot attract a top manager. I wouldn't want to shake hands in a deal to have a possible newbies coming in who didn't employ me. I can still see Derry and Dougie on the touchline in August. JMO.

I wonder if your sensible friend has touched on the issue that causes the deal to fall through at the last minute. The big issues such as; how much money do you want; what players do you want; what staff do you want. Are probably sorted out very early in discussion. A complex severance deal with a 3rd party could be just the thing that trips a deal up at the 11th hour.

I am willing to back whomever comes in and I think we have to look for the positives in the appointment. Having said that I think in all honesty I will be relieved if it's not Cooper. You dig below the surface of them reaching the play-offs and you'll see their form was terrible in the last dozen or so games and according to Swansea fans many of their wins throughout the season were rather fortuitous and against the run of play. Everything I've read he sounds like an inferior Hodgson. I'd still back him if he came in, but deep down I'd be disappointed. I think Lampard has enough support in the game that he could call on both for advice and for players which compensate for his lack of experience. The Chelsea gig came way too early in his career and I think he paid the price for it. I'm not sure he'll want to walk into a club that is being portrayed as in turmoil by the media (even if that's untrue). Fonseca's name has come up a few times but I think that is most likely nonsense. Having said that, at 50-1 with some bookies maybe it's worth putting your lunch money down just in case? I mean, Nuno and Favre were pretty leftfield.

Mainly because of lack of other candidates, I think I'd take Cooper now - certainly over Lampard or a Freedman caretakership! Hearing that Swansea fans are critical about his playing style etc is no different to our moaning about Hodgson and large elements of the Arsenal fan base demanding Wenger out for many years. You only have to listen to a bitesize of 606 or talksport to hear that no one is happy with their manager. It strikes me as a sign of supporter weakness if you are happy and content with what's happening at you club and not finding a reason to cricitise the board and manager. It is only when managers step away that opportunity is given for reflection and then the credit due is given.

Terry was a junior at West Ham and moved to Chelsea at the age of 14 and the rest , as they say, is history. Can hardly call a 14 year old disloyal to his club as at least one poster has suggested. 2. AS to shopping at Poundland, I suggest it's not from choice but by reason of circumstances. Unless Cooper has already signed for Fulham I can well see him as our next manager simply because he's possibly the only person Parish has interviewed (assuming he has been interviewed) who might be willing to take on this most difficult of challenges. Lampard has already said publicly that he hasn't had any decent managerial offers.

It seems like Steve's luck has finally run out - when Holloway went Pulis was available (though there was a big delay getting him in, most likely due to his excessive demands), then Pardew was available, then Big Sam, then Roy - now there is virtually nobody who sees us as a good opportunity, apart from Steve Cooper. If SP thought we were an attractive proposition to potential managers his difficulty in getting a suitable manager is telling him otherwise. And a temporary caretaker role doesn't seem on the cards because the out-of-contract players have apparently been told they have to wait for the new boss to tell them if they're going to be retained. Parish seems to be in a similar situation to when he sacked George Burley, it looked like he pulled a rabbit out the hat with Favre, but now we are nowhere. I am as clueless as the next man but I'd say give Dyche what he wants to take him from Burnley, he still hasn't signed a new contract there so he is holding out for a move probably, he's an ambitious bloke, and he ain't going to Spurs or Everton, something has to give, money must be very tight but it's time for another splash of cash to get us out of trouble, and Dyche's salary would be a small price to pay when compared with the transfer kitty we gave Big Sam.
