there should be no politics on this thread to be fair. doesn't matter who us in charge of the country, no government would have managed it perfectly. you could pick holes i any action or policy.q anybody trying to politically point score is a knobhead. i am no tory by a long stretch, but they are doing the best they can in a s***ty situation.

It’s not as though doctors have downed tools to protest China’s actions. When this pandemic has passed Trump’s time will be taken up facing the economic downturn rather than blaming anyone. Not saying he won’t of course. No they haven't because they have ethics at the centre of what they do. Trump has no ethics at all. In my opinion one of the reasons Trump is doing this is that he could maybe salvage his Presidency by stopping the economy going into free fall, and he is willing to ignore the advice of his medical experts to do so. He is prepared to risk lives to save himself and is betting the whole house on getting lucky. He has run into a brick wall with the governors who have the real decisions in their hands and not his. So now he is winding up his base and encouraging them to make trouble for the governors on the basis their "freedoms" are being eroded. He has already given them someone other than himself to blame. Now it's the "Chinese Virus" and not Covid 19. He always finds playground epithets for his perceived enemies ("Crooked Hilary", "Sleepy Joe Biden", etc etc). Then he attacks the WHO. It's naked self interest and divisive politics at it's worst. For Trump though it's just business as usual. Why does this matter to us? Everything that happens in the USA has an impact on us, but especially now. With us now outside the EU our pain is going to be greater than it need be, if they mess up. So I would feel much more comfortable knowing that the POTUS was following the science and not either his own instinct or his craving to avoid a defeat.

I agree. I am no fan of this government but the way they have responded has been exemplary. So I think have the leaders of the other parties. Boris Johnson has shown genuine leadership and compassion.

Remember it doesn't discriminate, lol More likely a case of wrong place, wrong time. If there was a disease spraying off grass or weeds then whities would be going down instead. Seriously though. This is really a city and town disease and the majority of ethnic minorities live in built up areas before you factor in low paid manual work, larger family households and everything.

Trump's narcissism and thin skin aside after a slow start, which was repeated over most of the west, he's done better than most. That said, there's a lot to talk about other than a US president.

Very true, though interestingly it's quite a lot higher in NHS front line deaths as well. I have my own thoughts on that but we'll see I suppose....but in short, cultural.
