Mass migration into settled lands is what happened in the USA. Sometimes driven by greed. Sometimes by force as a consequence of greed. Sometimes by religious persecution and sometimes by necessity, like the starving Irish. Conflict certainly followed but on balance are more people better as a consequence or worse? It's obviously impossible to be certain but a strong argument could be put that more are better.

As better days followed a difficult start who is to say that pattern won't be repeated here?

I had nothing directly to do with Trump. His impact on me was limited to the same negatives he made to the rest of the world. My contribution was to add my tiny voice to the torrent of outrage which flowed over him. So I had no opportunity to compromise. But nor did anyone else. Compromise requires willing partners on both sides of an argument to respect and acknowledge the validity of the opposing view.

Compromise doesn't exist in Trump's world. He only sees things one way so they only way to deal with him is to meet him head-on. The only compromises that did happen were in the Senate, where the Democrats had some leverage in the House they could use.

Your idea that the Democrats are "commie" is very funny. It's resonant of the old "reds under the beds" days of McCarthyism. A tactic used a lot by Trump these last 4 years. Paint every opponent a "lefty" or socialist or even liberal, and then accuse them of being a "commie". When most are are no more than centrist but just have a degree of social responsibility rather than the raw selfishness of their opponents.

Actually from my experience & I've lived here a few years just about every ethnic group except the English to a degree have some sort of link to their homeland.
The Scottish have a Tartan parade certainly not as big as the St Patrick's Day parade but still 15K - 25K also the Germans have their parade as well albeit smaller than say the Greek or the HUGE Israel parade.
The English have tried over the years to arrange something along these lines but all though there is reckoned to be over 100K people of English descent or actual English or indeed very Anglophile Americans, It's never got off the ground.
They do have some sort of meeting/party on St George's Day at Hanover Sq where they have a QE2 Garden (9/11 Remembrance)but It's a corporate woke w*** fest sponsored by British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, where people are expected to speak in 'Gor Blimey Guvnor' accents & laugh heartedly at Monty Python & sing 'Always look on the Bright Side of Life'

Yes I agree. Just because your great, great, great grandfather arrived here in 1840 doesn't make you Irish. I can just about except it if your parents & dare I say Grandparents were.
This also applies to African Americans as well who most commonly use this bulls*** term.
