Why on earth you think to do that equals sweeping it under the carpet, when precisely the reverse is true, I have no idea. Why you think any University will have a political view beats me. Only the individuals who are employed by them have such views. I only quoted what someone else reported their survey found. I haven't checked the report or studied their methodology but on face value it paints a very different picture to the perceptions many seem to have. Why not alienate a section of them? I know your a nieve peodo apologist but you have just shown your cards. You should be banned from here with your views. If anything you are justifying people's anger here.

I don’t for one minute believe those figures, although of course, if the White British show their “Britishness” they are branded right wing racists. Once a very long time ago The University of Essex was indeed proud of its left wing (bordering on militant,) working classleft wing views. It was a small campus based site and a fermenting pot of ideas and debate. But oddly enough has a good few Tory MP's as alumni. I remember the days well . But now sadly it is as any other university is. Much bigger and nowhere near as political (best word I can think of,) as it was. Just as many posh boys and girls, just as many overseas students to bring in cash as anywhere else.

Yes as quickly as possible because they cannot be solved yesterday. They can only be solved in the future. The people who work and study at any uni are going to have a varied political outlook. It's not who writes reports that matters. It's what we can learn from them. Even if you question the findings it makes an interesting assertion. They could have been solved yesterday, had there been a will to do so

That is the false consensus effect. Your family represent themselves not 750,000,000 other people. Your suspicions are not evidence. Agreed.

If anything you are justifying people's anger here. Do you actually read what I write? Or just jump to the conclusions that you already seem to have fixed in your mind? I suggest you buy a new pair of glasses and then very slowly read what I have said, process it carefully and make sure you actually understand it. Then perhaps you will stop making your ridiculous, and totally inaccurate, assertions.

I think I probably know my family rather better than you do. I have no influence at all over either of my daughters now. They are perfectly capable of speaking their own minds and are much more likely these days to tell me I am an idiot than the other way around. My 18 year grandson in particular feels himself to be a European. His Mum also, but not so avidly. She was partly educated in Germany and has spent a lot of time working in various corners of the EU. His Dad is a passionate socialist who considers himself a citizen of the world. So it is 100% not a lie. Maybe you might like to reflect on that!

That would tell me you have put your ideology in their head and this whole post is exactly about ideology swaying a certain way of thinking. The cats out of the bag now.

Three people out of three quarters of a billion still don’t convince me that people in Poland and Portugal have any sense of shared identity.
