Federal judge upholds Michigan election: 'The people have spoken' - [Link] "A federal judge has rejected a last-minute push by Michigan Republicans who sought an emergency order to overturn President-elect Joe Biden's victory in the state, saying the effort aimed to "ignore the will of millions of voters." The suit seemed "less about achieving the relief" the GOP plaintiffs sought and "more about the impact of their allegations on people’s faith in the democratic process and their trust in our government," wrote Detroit U.S. District Court Judge Linda Parker of Michigan's Eastern District. "The People have spoken," wrote Parker, who issued the ruling in the early morning hours of Monday, a week before the nation's presidential electors will meet."

The Judiciary are beyond reproach. Ask Wisbech. They couldn't possibly go all three wise monkeys on us and ignore fraud just to save the reputation of their precious constitution.

Perhaps Perhaps not Whatever. It’s all fizzling out now, surprise surprise ‘Between rapidly approaching deadlines, Giuliani being hospitalized and a string of court losses, there is a sense developing internally that the Trump legal team’s efforts are coming to a close, according to multiple people. Fewer calls, meetings happening, etc.‘

What's funny is that the justice system has been unfair to the marginalised for years, completely bias and out of touch. Even part of systematic racism. However, completely correct when calling these cases. Long may their complete righteousness continue.

So many cases of 'fraud' have been thoroughly debunked that it begins to speak to the integrity of those who say 'nevermind all that, maybe this next one is true!'. People are putting their stock in the smelly stuff just because they prefer the smell of their own. If even what the courts say means nothing, then there is no possible way to dissuade people from 'alternative facts'. Trump can't accept he's lost and pushes countless instances of 'fraud' (which in all likelihood he often knows are untrue).. and he's just praying that one or two cases stick or are genuine. Like every election maybe they are and maybe they will. In the big picture it's not going to change the result. The Dems really have been no better in the past, and the GOP have been voting down every election security bill going, so I expect there are as many questions in their direction even though they lost. The judge was very much on the money: "The suit seemed "less about achieving the relief" the GOP plaintiffs sought and "more about the impact of their allegations on people’s faith in the democratic process and their trust in our government," wrote Detroit U.S. District Court Judge Linda Parker of Michigan's Eastern District." This is just Trump leaning into his post election career as the 'wronged woman'. I'd be all for a cross party committee coming up with nationwide rules regarding how elections are run though. That might be too sensible a suggestion to be implemented though.

In our country they are. They might not always interpret the law the way you, or I, want them to but they do so impartially and to the best of their ability. No political bias involved that I have ever witnessed, and I have been involved with enough lawsuits to have an opinion. Not so in the USA, at least at SCOTUS level. You want corrupt Judges? Go try the Philippines for your justice. The chequebook wins every time there. We don't know how lucky we are.

Today's Update: Quote U.S. Supreme Court Rejects Republican Challenge to Biden's Pennsylvania Win
The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday handed a defeat to Republicans seeking to throw out up to 2.5 million mail-in ballots in Pennsylvania as they try to undo President Donald Trump’s election loss, with the justices refusing to block the state from formalizing President-elect Joe Biden’s victory there. The court in a brief order rejected a request made by U.S. Congressman Mike Kelly, a Trump ally, and other Pennsylvania Republicans who filed a lawsuit after the Nov. 3 election arguing that the state’s 2019 expansion of mail-in voting was illegal under state law.

Edited by Stirlingsays (08 Dec 2020 6.32pm) Yep. I'd like to see odds on that getting anything other than rejected I mean, it does intrigue me to wonder why, now all these lawsuits have played out, and failed (bar one, I believe) that people think the next one will succeed? Surely the 40+ previous failures effectively all based on the same claim should act as some sort of guide? 'The Texas suit claims 'rampant lawlessness' and cites some of the same claims that have either been debunked or thrown out of court already.' Literally repackaging the same s*** over and over again. If it failed once, it's probably going to fail again. But y'know, you're free to try Besides didn't the 6-3 supreme court just unanimously reject a lawsuit today? 6 republican judges, of which 3 are trump appointees. Unanimous. The time is fast approaching to cut losses on any hasty bets that may or may not have been made
