Exactly, stop titting about with ludicrous offers and pay the price thats asked or at least something approaching that. Or go elsewhere. This along with the fiasco on Saturday is making us look like a bunch of f***ing idiots.

Even if a fee is agreed, Benteke still has to agree to come to our club. According to this he's "desperate to join" and has agreed his wages... [Link] Having said that, it was the Mirror...

The fee up front 23m rising to 30m The previous offer was 25m rising to 27m. Why are we gambling our prem league status on 3 to 4m ffs.

We have reached the stage now where we either go back with £30 mil upfront .. Or go elsewhere ... Simple as that now, by all account Beteke wants to join us, so we need to suck it up and pay (and get used to paying high for quality if we want to advance the club) or go elsewhere (but where ? Bony would be the same cost, Remy would be £20 mil in this market, Saido won't be leaving until Brom get a replacement)

BENTEKE'S NEW PALACE Crystal Palace are now odds-on at 4/5 with Sky Bet to sign Christian Benteke this month. A move to Everton can be backed at 15/8 and the striker is out at 8/1 to still be at Liverpool when the transfer window slams shut. Sky Bet's odds on Christian Benteke's future...

If we do get Benteke, I doubt he'll be fit for either Spurs or Bournemouth. If you were to ask Parish if, in retrospect, he'd happily spend an extra few million to have Benteke in a couple of weeks before the season, fit and ready to go, I'm sure he would - especially as we're probably going to end up accepting Liverpool's demands anyway! But the question isn't such a hypothetical one - we've left transfers late before, and we've missed out on targets due to haggling before. Parish should have learned by now.

At least the interesting offers we're making for Benteke as described in the press are improving the page count. Perhaps we can offer the exclusive use of a nearly new Nissan Micra to Jurgen Klopp's mother-in-law to seal the deal.
