That the Chinese government persecute minorities isn’t questionable. Any minorities included are token, they don’t have power. Which has no connection to the underlying points. They exist. They mix.

So the knowledge of culture and history which you said is important actually doesn't matter. Of course it does. It’s fundamental. But the judgement call is theirs.

'A child born in China to two foreign national parents can acquire Chinese citizenship very easily.' Not they can't....the state can turn down an application for any reason. The very point was that being born somewhere does not make you Chinese unless one of the parents is actually Chinese. To gain Chinese citizenship after that requires the Chinese state to accept you. In other words, citizenship isn't the same as here. As for waffling on about the Great Replacement.....apparently it's been debunked by globalists. Yeah....apparently our eyes aren't reliable. They just lie, like this guy and everybody honest knows it.

Bingo! Your ability to extrapolate has been debunked. So someone with a Chinese passport is automatically Chinese and yet people only have to choose what they are? In that case, why would I need a Chinese passport to be Chinese? Anyone with a Chinese passport is legally a Chinese national. That doesn’t though convey ethnicity. You could go to China, meet the criteria, apply for and be granted citizenship but decide that your ethnicity remained English. Which it would, given the attitudes on display. Indeed it would be extremely unlikely that anyone in those circumstances would do anything different. I had an acquaintance some years back who went to live in China to teach English. He met a local lady, married and settled there. I don’t know if he applied for citizenship but would not have been surprised if he had as I believe it brings some benefits. He certainly though did not identify as Chinese as he continued to participate in forums where he was as English in attitude as anyone here.

Whilst no one here is likely to be an authority on the requirements for acquiring Chinese citizenship I suspect this is a better researched synopsis than a couple of phrases pulled out of thin air. It’s rare, but not impossible:- It is also only being used as a diversionary counter point, without any particular relevance to the subject!

Does Chinese citizenship come with complimentary Prawn Crackers? The fortune cookie would be interesting - 'Your personal conversations are being monitored'.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Of course not! That’s just a twisted version of something really simple. People aren’t the same. Everyone is unique. Even identical twins aren’t identical! The point is who determines ethnicity? Is it how you feel, or is it what others believe is required? If the latter is some kind of genetic threshold, how on earth is that going to be determined? Every definition of ethnicity I have seen says that it is determined by the acceptance and respect for heritage, history and culture that an individual believes is their own. It’s the only practical approach. It doesn’t impact anyone else, who don’t even need to know what any individual feels. It’s personal to them. Others can think and believe whatever they like. It only matters to people like the ONS when gathering data to determine trends and to inform government where resources are needed. Many people are going to identify exactly as you or I would also identify them. However, we wouldn’t know if someone we thought was English was actually English until they opened their mouth, or sometimes their heart. They could identify in many other ways. Conversely, you might think someone was English, based on a phone or online conversation, but change your mind when you saw them. Why should anyone else care what someone feels about themselves? Unless the true motivation had nothing actually to do with ethnicity itself but a desire to exclude those they don’t want included, for reasons of fear or loathing. If true, as all the indications suggest it is, then it presents echoes of some extremely distasteful episodes from history. Episodes that some may want to forget, ignore or brush under the carpet. Some though don’t. Lest we forget applies to many things. The reality of genetic heritage has nothing to do with Nazis or any other ethnic cleansing episodes. The fact that it has been used as an excuse to exclude or murder people do not alter its reality. Your whole outlook to this subject is clouded by politics, ideology and a paranoia about historical misdeeds. It is blinding you to the obvious.

It has. Just ignore it. Carry on! I will. I find it revealing that in a forum where freedom of speech is frequently lauded, and “cancel culture” derided, that the desire to have a facility provided on a plate for them to ignore posts is regularly requested. Don’t you think other people are entitled to their opinions? To ignore anything is readily available. It’s called restraint! You don’t have to respond to any post.

Sounds like somebody can't grasp the concept of free speech. An ignore button still means they suffer no consequences for their opinions and they aren't being 'cancelled' as they still get to provide their opinion. So an ignore button doesn't stop their free speech. Those who want to listen to them still get to. The fact that the prospect so obviously annoys them reveals the real reason they exist on this platform in the first place. You're not well sir, but you probably know that anyway. Your whole outlook to this subject is clouded by politics, ideology and a paranoia about historical misdeeds. It is blinding you to the obvious. The reality is that genetic heritage was precisely the reasons for the genocide committed by the Nazis and other ethnic cleansing elsewhere. To try to ignore that is to deny reality. It matters and it needs to be kept at the forefront of our consciousness and not conveniently buried. Are you suggesting every published definition, from respected dictionaries and journals, is codswallop and you know better? Wonderful! To learn the meaning of anything all we need to do is ask you! What’s the meaning of life and everything? I bet you think it’s 42! Ethnicity is not based on science. It’s a social construct. All the time you are searching for a scientific explanation you are looking in the wrong place. You have the answer you want and are now trying to find something to justify it, but unfortunately for you it doesn’t exist. My outlook is not blind, and neither clouded nor political. It’s simple, factual, and backed up by authority.
