Thank you for taking the liberty of amending my comments and presenting them under my 'Nomme De Plume'. With the greatest of respect, a shallow puddle of a contribution does not add value to this debate.

But I recommend that you stick to English - 'nom de plume'!

I'm starting to think that the current outbreak of good-natured banter in this thread is disguising a feeling of nervous hysteria ahead of the 'Big Day'!

Rowe would be a stunning signing. Regrettably I can’t see it happening but I’d be thrilled if we did get him. The kind of player that would seriously boost our attempts to stay up and if we went down would be integral to trying to get back up again. Would rather we signed Rowe than Wharton but let’s see…

Is anybody else fed up looking for any news that we might sign somebody or get a new manager? I can’t wait for the window to shut and we all know what we are dealing with. I’m coming to the conclusion (as many suggested) that this year is just a case of killing time till Roy goes and Roy 2.0 comes in, that is assuming we have just about enough to stay up.

Roy has confirmed both that the Munoz deal is close and that we tried and failed to get Kalvin Philips. He's also already stated that getting the squad fit is more important than new signings. Given he also said his meeting with Parish was about transfers is this all company speak? We get the right back we've needed since AWB left, we tried to get a top-quality replacement for Cheikh, we should be happy with the squad we have. Personally the deals for Wharton or the Birmingham lad seem like players which would be eased in ready for next season rather than being brought in to make an instant impact, which may be why Roy has tempered any excitement over any further signings beyond Munoz. With Olise back, Ayew returning and JRS also back it could be the club has decided we will be fine in the forward areas (I don't agree, but that's me). My money would be on Munoz signing and an outside chance of the Wharton deal, but that's it. The last few windows have I imagine left us all with little optimism.

Getting Olise fit is better than any signing we could make. And as you said Ayew is an important return and JRS gives us some depth. If it was me and we had the cash I'd gamble on Rowe and Wharton and loan them both back. Buying young hungry players from the championship has worked well for us so far. Plus if these 2 replicate their early season form, we wont be able to afford them in the summer.
