I wouldn’t be surprised that with his injuries and managing them going forward, he might be better suited to his CB role that he has played previously than an up and down wing back.

Glasner: Mr Ferguson – you are, I believe, auditioning for the part of Left back.

Ferguson: Right.

Glasner: Now Mr Ferguson, I couldn't help noticing – almost at once – that you are a one-legged person.

Ferguson: You noticed that?

Glasner: I noticed that, Mr Ferguson. When you have been in the business as long as I have, you come to notice these little things almost instinctively.

The Football manager goes on to point out that a full back is "a role which traditionally involves the use of a two-legged player" and that it would be unusual for the part to be taken by a "unidexter", but Ferguson enthusiasm is undimmed. Glasner keeps a straight face as he explains exactly why Ferguson is unsuitable for the role.

Glasner: Need I say with over much emphasis that it is in the leg division that you are deficient.

Ferguson: The leg division?

Glasner: Yes, the leg division, Mr Ferguson. You are deficient in it to the tune of one. Your left leg, I like. I like your left leg. A lovely leg for the role. That's what I said when I saw you come in. I said, "A lovely leg for the role". I've got nothing against your left leg. The trouble is – neither have you.

Does he have a left foot?

Excellent, I was brought up on MP by my older brother. Or am I wrong and this was earlier possibly not the 1948 programme.

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).

Or he could work for St. John's Ambulance.

I suspect the Baggies had the last laugh.

Last few months of the season to see if he can play back up to Munoz. Otherwise release.

It will mean we need to go RB shopping again, unless we have someone EPL ready from the U21? We always seem to be short of a FB.

In reply to my own post (sorry) may not need to go to market if Imray can step up as back-up?

Yes, I was going to mention Imray. It appears he has boosted his credentials by getting invited to join in with the first team. I’ve only seen him once so not enough to come to a decision but I’ve read a few decent reviews on here about him.

He's not injured, named as a substitute with the under 21's this evening.

Fingers crossed for him.

Fergs looked decent in the cameo he played for this 4-0 loss. He was subbed on and the CPFC video shows him running up the right wing and putting a top quality cross in for the forward player. It would be awesome if he could stay fit enough for the first team. I love Ward, we all do, and Ward can still do a decent job in the box, but it's time for Ward to be slowly eased back from 90 minutes of first team play. We would be so different with a faster and more skilful RB. We'd get more chances as Glasner wants.

Think we already have a very decent right back in that South American we got from Genk (Munoz)

Yes, he came on for the second half and played a mixture of right wing back and a right sided centre back, dependent on which formation the team were employing at the time. The run and cross you refer to was decent.

Ward is doing great in the middle 3. I would certainly extend his contract for another year for that position when required. Great backup as he is proving now. Can’t see him being a right back again for us unless it really was an emergency?
