Interesting debate re the wicketkeeper. Personally I think we have seen the best of Butler when freed up to tee off with the tail. For me his glovework is good enough and he should bat 7. If he doesn't bat 7 he's not good enough as a specialist batsmen to warrant a place top 6.
A couple of years ago Bairstow was only second to Root as a batsman. However his technique has flaws to the moving ball and he desperately needs to re discover his old form or he too is out.
Denly is vulnerable to the ball outside off. When he plays under his eyeline his technique is as good as anyone. When its a little wider he struggles. He needs to be more selective on what he leaves and let the bowlers come to him. But I like his guts, and patience. He could have a Chris Rodgers type of test career.
Burns has had an OK series and can be considered our premier opener now!

Just chucking out there but football still seems to thrive with the majority of live matches on pay per TV, so how is it any different to cricket?

I see Dom Sibley is currently undefeated on 156 in the latest championship fixture. This guys has scored well over 1000 championship runs at an average of approaching 60. No mean feat given most matches are played at the beginning and end of the summer. He has to be on the plane to NZ.

Any score against an attack including Ravi Ashwin has to be taken seriously. Over 8 hours batting even on a road takes some powers of concentration. Exactly what England's top order is lacking currently.
