Why oh why did Roy think it was a good idea to start Meyer against a physical side like Huddersfield?! Just don't get it ... I think Meyer is great but has to be deployed properly. Play him against Spurs tomorrow for example but no chance of that now after Saturday! Feel sorry for the lad ...

They pressed high but other than that? Besides, I'm now confused as to the role he's supposed to play. At home to a 'lesser' team who will defend in numbers and we need to open them up a bit. Isn't that exactly the sort of game he should be thriving in? Edited by Username (01 Apr 2019 1.03pm)
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

On this occasion I agree ... they weren't. But I think it was safe to assume that a lot of people expected them to be. Well apart from Roy from your reckoning. We'll never know eh! That said, I can't see Max being here next season ...

Is that any great loss considering his wages?

I really didn't think that Hudersfield were physical at all.Gained that reputation under Wagner but maybe they have changed since Siewert has taken over. Meyer was a major disappointment but as a team we were far from impressive in the first half. The jury has been out on Meyer for some time and I suspect many who had doubts have now made up their mind.Won't be surprised at all if he goes after the season is over.

Saturday was the ideal game for him to take the game by the scruff of the neck and he just didn't, was very poor (as were most of our team). I just see him as another Williams/bannan, though the later of those 2 probably done more in a much poorer team (on paper)

Im sick of this Meyer should only play against certain teams and people constantly defending him.

People's fondness of him is more to do with the fact he looks like a proper baller. A natural. A bit like Williams. This sort of talent doesn't present itself everyday so it's worth persevering with until such a point he's obviously not going to cut it. Seems most replies assume the latter after a load of cameos / false starts ... whereas some of us still don't think he's been given enough time to shine ...

He's been given more than enough time to shine and he hasn't delivered.

Ive been disappointed with him this season however I hope he stays and maybe we will see the best of him next season. Hes a young lad in a new country, theres been countless examples of players coming good second season onwards. All our midfielders are really a much of a muchness so to have someone like Max with potential, maybe we need to give him time.

Meyer had a poor game and I am a fan of his, think we have missed Cabaye and Loftus-cheek more than I thought, none of our midfielders are good on the ball, there better when defending, maybe 4-4-2 at home, Benteke and Bats up front, wilf and Townie wide, two kickers in midfield, launch it, Coppell style
“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn |
