He's now receiving passes from many of his team mates - something that was missing only a few matches ago.
Such is the confidence that they have in him.

A new key player I hope.

Be fair to say most of us had written Jairo off and was expecting him to leave only a few months ago. A shrug of the shoulder and we all would have moved on.

A bag load of injuries has given us now, at the very least, a good squad player who has found out he can do a job at left back. Don't think he would have got the opportunity without the injuries. PVA's hamstring has had a silver lining.

More impressive by the week and very good v Arsenal. Joins in now and competent on the ball (most of the time). Could become an important player for us in 12 months time.

Last time we had a bag full of injuries we found AWB so opportunities arise.

Will be interesting when PVA is fit again.

Totally agree.. and this could be a little controversial.... But I would like to see him play in Luka's position. Jairo reads the game well, can pass, tackle, strong on the ball and does not just pointless dive in on players giving away fouls.

Our best player at the weekend I thought, along with Ayew.

Even so, I still don't fancy him out in the wide areas 1v1 against pacey wingers. In that respect he's far too big, slow and clumsy to play full back I'm afraid.

He's built like a centre back (or a boxer. Or a doorman. Or a door). Wonder if he could play there?

Roy:

"I remember talking to Jairo, saying: ‘Don’t you think you could play left-back?’ He was very reticent about that, virtually saying: ‘No, I don’t think I can. I won’t be able to do that job.’ I actually said to him the other day: ‘I did tell you, I knew you could do that job.’ We’ve always known there’s a very good footballer there but we’ve not been able to find a place for him or a home for him in the team. Now we’ve found a home for him and he’s playing on a regular basis, and with every game I think he gets better.
"I’m delighted with him but I’m also delighted for him, because he’s been a model professional for the last two and a half seasons. He’s always training, always doing his job properly, never complaining.
"He's disappointed of course that the coach - i.e. me - doesn’t play him in the team, he’s entitled to be disappointed. But he’s fully understanding of the fact that I have a choice to make and that choice has gone elsewhere, so I’ll get on with my job. Hats off to him."

I remember Jairo was discussed at a Palace Supporters Trust meeting two (?) years ago when Ray Lewington was the speaker. Ray also used words like 'model professional' adding that 'he's a lovely lad'. I don't think there's ever been a 'problem' with Jairo just that he saw himself as a midfielder, an area where we are particularly well served.

If you look at distance covered by our midfield three they are among some of the hardest working players in the PL, which is key to Roy's tactics. There is no doubt that Jairo can pass well and is good on the ball, but I wonder if he is just not considered mobile enough?

After a shaky start I've been impressed with his efforts at left-back and he will at least give Roy something to think about when PvA is back. Man City is going to be his first big challenge with Mahrez bang in form and that may well tell us a lot about just how good he is in that position.

Hodgson recently referred to him as a midfielder.De Boer signed him to play in a back three or in midfield.
Riedewald has surprised a lot of supporters with his performances out of position.

With Riedewald when he gets the ball there is the expectancy that he will actually find his teammate with a pass.He is very capable with ball to feet and I understand one of his attributes is long range passing.

I think you have hit nail on the head this is where he will end up. A Luka who can pass to his own man! However while Luka is club catain he will not play there often

How could the manager leave POTM and probably our best passer of the ball, on the bench for the whole 0-1 game vs the Blades?
Beat me...

And me! Utterly baffling. What’s that gonna do for his confidence ... what more can he do to command a starting place eh!

I think it’s disgusting tbh ...

Sadly, it was what I expected because Roy had said how PvA was one the best LBs in the Prem, so it was no surprise that he came back in. For some reason Roy won't play Jairo in midfield where his keen eye for a colleague's run and precise passing ability would be a godsend.
it wouldn't surprise if the season end comes and Jairo spends most of the remainder warming the bench that the lad will be off to another Prem team who have seen how good a player he can be.
I have to say I wouldn't blame if he did go.
