i personally see wickham as a very similar situation to murray. for 1 minute, forget the promotion season, as had wickham been up front that season he would have scored 30 goals for us also. been injured for 18 months and has had to work his way back into the 1st team squad, both are quite similar players and connor could do a very good job for us given the chance/minutes. i know connor doesnt have the history murray had with us but he deserves the same amount of support, and if he gets his form back, we potentially have 7 yearsof decent striking ability from connor. he has ability galore, you dont lose that ability..only

At least now that Wickham has signed a new contract, we have nothing to worry about up front. We will have Sorloth, Wickham and even Benteke may stay. World beaters springs to mind.

The dumbest thing I've ever read on this forum and that's saying something. Wickham has never come close to Murray's numbers in his career and never will. Here's his record regarding league appearances and goals: '09-'10: 26/4, '10-'11: 37/9, '11-'12: 16/1, '12-'13: 18/1, '13-'14: 31/13, '14-'15: 36/5, '15-'16: 21/5, '16-'17: 8/2, '17-18: 0/0, '18-'19: 6/0. Please don't come back and say: "Yeah, but he didn't have Zaha and Bolasie either side of him." He still wouldn't have got close to Murray. Anyone with a clue about football can see that.

What I found funny a few months back was that the club released a video, or even short documentary if you will, showing the agonising, long, lonely hours Benteke spent trying to get back to fitness after his knee operations and injuries. It was clearly a move from Parish and his public relations background to get the supporters heart strings strumming and on his side after falling out of favour with the majority of the fan base, but they never did it for Wickham. Is it because he's not working as hard or they're not interested in doing the same promo videos for him? Hmm, well, perhaps I'm making mountains, curious though. Judging by his recent training videos on Instagram, he’s definitely working hard enough. Hopefully he can stay healthy this season.

It's a shame that we can't send him out on loan to a Championship club as that could be just what's needed for him to recover his form as well as match fitness but I guess that with our financial state we probably can't afford that

If we're genuinely being given the chance to cash in, we've got to take it.

And tonymikejoe is correct in your comment that Wickham could’ve done what Murray did in the promotion team is total and utter garbage and dumb. Sell all the crap that teams are willing to take and use any money freed up for fresh and hungry blood.

I expected Wickham ( and Sorloth ) to either be sold or loaned this season. I think it's always been the case with Wickham that somewhere in there is a very good player. However, for many different reasons we just don't get to see it often enough. With his injury record I can't see clubs wanting to spend too much on him and therefore a season long loan could be the way to go.

Depends on what they're offering, I know he's been in sick bay more than the 6 yard box but we're not exactly flush with strikers & the way we're going at the moment we won't see anyone new before the window closes. Know it's a big IF but, when the guys fit he definitely knows where the goal is & ain't shy in the off ball workload either. Doubt Stoke etc are offering anything groundbreaking to tempt us.

Personally I think this is a make or break season for Wickham. A loan to either Stoke or Bristol City would in my eyes benefit player and club but if they offered 3-4m for Wickham I would snap their hands off.

I think we’ve invested too much in Wickham to write him off for a few million. If he’s fit enough to play, he’s worth a f*ck sight more than that and if he’s not fit, no one’s going to take him anyway. And there’s no point loaning him while he’s fit and useful and we just pay his wages while he’s injured.
