Not quite sure how I was PC on this occasion though. In any case no, I don't particularly like the US. I prefer central Europe and South East Asia in truth. It's funny though, cos it ain't me that's fecked off and left Croydon. So the rest of you have left me to get on with it.

Children get a pass with language for several reasons. For one, you are a subject teacher, not an individual there to explore controversial topics outside of your area. Secondly a teacher has to work in the 'eggshells' environment you like. Students can easily make complaints and parents and administration get drawn into often ridiculous situations.....much of which are down to perception like the situation under discussion. I regard this as a very negative situation that ill prepares children for the reality of the world....but them the apples that our so called 'elites' pass down. As for sex between teachers and students. I've always been of the view that sexuality doesn't belong in pursuits of the mind. First we rightly have the age of consent and then we have the conflict of interest of a person f***ing a person in their care and grading them.....not good. In situations of higher education I don't agree with some of where we are but I understand why the law is what it is. If you aren't teaching someone and they are a student above the age of consent at college or university then I regard the law as having over extended itself for emotive reasons that cross over the rights of the individual.....But I think it's rightly frowned upon in the profession...because...well, like I say these are pursuits of the mind and there's an argument to be made about exploitation of impressionable minds.....but there is huge hypocrisy because this happens in pretty much every workplace as well. Laws are different in different countries and there are plenty of marriages that exist now that would be illegal here.....it's a touchy subject.
Ah yes, so much better in the good old days when Cyril Smith was a Governor.

Not let it bother you...I've had Rudi going on about appropriate language in offices all day and I'm a bit ranty. You're right....you're holding the fort....Not a security job I'd want in Croydon but still.

It's okay I'm going to try Sampson humour the first opportunity I get with someone I gauge may take offence, which isn't that difficult so I should be able to pick the target fairly easily. If it's in a social situation and I'm in deep embarrassment I'll show them this thread. If it's in a professional environment I'll have to hope the target accepts this thread was the reason for my social experiment and I don't have to experience any consequences from an unnecessary dig I didn't need to make to liven up 2 minutes. Fingers crossed.

Maybe you can be a conduit by which some of this over sensitive victim/reward nonsense can be relieved.....or perhaps you'd just get in trouble....but obviously you're just making a point. Like I said, you have to work within the environment you work in....so common sense applies....also civil behaviour is by default sensible behaviour. What annoys me is how far the shift has moved...into a situation where if someone complains about offence that this is automatically valid. Whereas every situation is its own case. I hear this attitude from parents all the time...they pick it up from the culture....they think that how they view something should be how everyone must view it...Sometimes they have a point and sometimes not..and if it's about something racial or gender....wow..the ceiling comes down. Actually it seems that most of the case in the news at present is more about how the FA completely f**ked up their investigation, and completely failed to properly handle allegations of racism, and then tried to completely spin the issue. There's a surprise - FA incompetent.

How exactly? It is either racism or not. It is either an opportunity for politicians to bash the FA or not. What I'm seeing here is people hiding behind their agendas and self interest regardless of the facts. Well it was determined to be racist by the tribunal, and contravened the FA's own rules on racism. Which I guess is what counts here.
