This post has been merged from a topic called 'I'm not even surprised we're losing ' by Penge Eagle Hopefully after the latest debacle Frank will have the sense to return to the BFS system that yielded moderate success. This is imperative because the players and the fans confidence will be shot to pieces if this sh*t continues.

This inevitably will lead to discontent amongst players and fans and doesn't bode well for the season. We need to get a influential player in, SAKHO fits the mould and raises the the belief of everyone. If we do get him, make him captain. Puncheon just is t good enough and looks seriously out of his depth. I disagree re an influential player-we have bucket loads of quality in the team. We need an influential and motivational MANAGER, and with him a LEADER on the pitch. Puncheon needs to be dropped and I'd suggest Scott Dann reinstated as captain (I would say Luka but he's not clicking under FDB for some reason)

First half was poor. Thought we looked significantly better with 4 at the back and Fosu-Mensah playing RB. We need to play a 4-3-3 going forward and 4-5-1 out of possession. Townsend was wasted in the first half, trying to come central but nobody giving him the ball at the back. Puncheon simply has to be dropped, completely ineffective, and Cabaye needs to come in. Love Punch but he doesn't go in our strongest 11 as far as I'm concerned. It's a shocking start to the season and Frank needs to learn very, very quickly. But there is still time.

We're still bringing on Lee and Kelly as subs. We're still playing puncheon who's played awful for the last three years We were s**t until sakho played, and weve been s**t since he left. Why should we be suprised that we haven't won a game? Ubless we find some money from somewhere and buy at least 3 more quality players, we are in deep, deep trouble. Accurate to be honest. this transfer season has been a joke. Most of our team is deadwood and eventually you become the turd of the league that won't flush, until it does.

That is a result of several years of poor quality recruitment. N.b. even Sam took 10 games and some truly awful football to get many of the same players to play effectively, and we only managed that for a few games before losing 4 of the last 5 matches under him. In combination, the above tells me it's not just FDB or the system's fault. There are far deeper issues. Good post.

As I've said before we have probably a dozen players who are not good enough in the squad that need to go. I'm not blaming FdB or the style change either. If we had Mourinho or Guardiola in charge I doubt the results would be any different with this squad. Some have been good servants to the club but if they're not good enough it's time to cut them, no room for sentimentality in this business. Start with Puncheon, Ward, Delaney, Mutch etc. We need a quality striker up front with Benteke and a RB desperately. What's the latest on Connor Wickham? 29 appearances in 3 seasons and 7 goals wtf !

Agree with most of your points, but there are systems which suit the players and systems which don't. The current formation gets the best out of nobody.

One point in the first half we were attacking in their third and Swansea had two players up yet we had five players defending the half way line. Recall similar happening when Wilf crossed into the box when we were 2-0 against Huddersfield. The players don't look like they know what they're meant to be doing and dropping like flies.

Both good points but it is still ultimately down to the manager to play with what he's got, itps fair enough to say we havenpt got the players but we don't have the money to build a Chelsea or a Man Utd over one transfer window (if ever), that's just reality, so FDB has what he has and whether they are either incapable or unwilling to play his system doesn't matter, it's just not working, it needs to change, as I said before he seems to be intelligent enough to change tactics in-game when things aren't working, we've had managers in the past that cannot or will not do this, so that's a point in his favour, he just has to realise it's his basic tactics that are causing a lot of the problems and stop blaming the players for not having passion or not trying hard enough. The players we have while not top quality are perfectly capable of staying in the PL as they have already proved, that is not to say we couldn't do with a major clearout, many are over paid and not as good as I'd like, but we really shouldn't be in this position ea0this early in the season.
Bangell - If Camus wrote The Myth of Sisyphus today, it would be about Jason Puncheon eternally trying and failing to pass with his right foot. |
