Couldn't blame him for wanting to f*** it all off though after the year he's had. Bare in mind this has happened pretty much in a year. Kept Sunderland up against the odds. Gets the England job because of his ability to get teams to fight for each other and get results. Loses England job after being stitched up after being in charge for one game. Keeps us up against the odds and comes out smelling of roses. He must be absolutely exhausted. And all that money he's made in bonuses and compensation . Poor b*****d. Doesn't a contract mean anything anymore.

Interesting that so many think Allardyce will get his bonus. Are we to assume then that he had a different contract from Pulis, that allowed him to walk at anytime post-season, bonus intacta? Both Allardyce and Pulis did the same job; kept us up when we looked certain to drop through the trapdoor. Notwithstanding the nice warm fuzzy reasons Allardyce has given for wanting to leave, he's done exactly the same as Pulis and left early, albeit a lot earlier. I'm surprised, if true, that having already had a manager chuck the towel in early, and a clause requiring him the be at the club until a pre-determined date to receive his bonus, we didn't have the same requirement in Allardyce's contract, or maybe we did. I wonder how we'll respond if Allardyce does eventually fetch up in another football job? I can't think of another club where there's a history of managers, having enjoyed a degree of success, suddenly upping and leaving, and we've had two do that in less than three years. If the same thing happens again then it's going to start looking like more than a coincidence.

Apologies if this has already been voiced but I just think this is strange. You don't just make a snap decision that you are going to retire. He must have been thinking about this for a while yet after the Utd game he was still talking about bringing players in. Yesterday's talks must have triggered this in some way even if to just to confirm that the idea of retirement was better than staying on?

He must have doubted he would keep us up on several occasions and wrestled with the idea of staying with us in the Championship. After the year he'd had with Sunderland and England it's not hard to imagine his thought process after the dust settled from the Hull game. The picture of him sitting alone in Greenwich Nandos also leaves you wondering what would drive a man of his age and experience to keep doing it while his family are 200 miles away.

According to Jason Burt - big Sam intends to retire but if he takes a job in the next 2 season. SA will owe Palace big compensation.

Reports also claim that Allardyce has already cleared his desk at the club’s training ground and has no plans to U-turn on his decision to quit. Big Sam was appointed Palace boss in December following the sacking of Alan Pardew with the tough task of keeping the Eagles in the top flight...But further plans to strengthen key areas in the summer hit a brick wall having failed to see eye-to-eye with Parish. West Brom Tony Pulis also resigned from the club after he kept them in the Premier League which resulted in a bitter legal battle with the Palace chairman. At the time Pulis stated that his decision to leave was because he was not being backed in the transfer market by the board." And I never thought Pulis was a c@nt either. Never, not then and not since. West Brom finished in 10th spot this year with NO f@cking dramas and NO f2cking relegation battle and NO f@cking stupid dancing ala Pardew. So you can f@ck off. See ya.

SP WAS MORALLY at fault with Pulis and that's what I'm suggesting could be the same here. Morally, a court ruling doesn't mean a damn thing other than one party was contractually in error. I'm suggesting that the Parish fault lies in his dealings with TP (and other managers?) before contractual obligations come into play. You can take Monsanto to court and lose legally - doesn't mean they're morally pure does it? In fact, it could mean that there's some very fine print in SP's managerial contracts that managers aren't used to, eh? This stupid idea that one court ruling condemns TP (a very decent man IMO) as morally inferior to Parish is utter hogwash. Well well well.
