Amidst all the arguing about who is better than who we have;

Julian Speroni four times player of the year and put in some big performances whilst we avoided the drop to league one, won promotion from championship, and finished top half after initially struggling first half during our first two seasons in the prem.

At the age of thirty six after a decent season 2014-15 he was demoted to third choice and;

Alex MacCarthy was made first choice and Wayne Hennessey second choice. MacCarthy looked error prone in a side that performed well and was replaced by Wayne Hennessey who, after initially impressing, allowed his form to fall off a cliff. The team's league form has plummeted in parallel with Hennessey's.

A brief ray of sunshine being Palace's appearance in the FA Cup final when ten man Man utd profited from a poor Hennessey clearance and some subsequent weak defending to win the cup.

Hennessey started the following season in goal when again Palace didn't get a point from their first two games.

At this point Palace buy Steve Mandanda who comes with a decent pedigree but has only competed in the fifth best league in Europe. He initially impresses as Palace's form takes a slight upturn but looks a bit fat, takes a dip in form and goes missing with dodgy knee amidst speculation he want's to p1ss off back to France.

Hennessey returns to the side, continues to play poorly and the side plummet down the table, manager is sacked and replaced by famous firefighter. Hennessey continues to show no fortitude and costs the team points as we become laughing stock and favourites for relegation.

Conclusion;

Goalkeeper is the most important position in the team and what a fvcking mess. Lets hope that Julian Speroni is still good enough to help get us out of the sh1t.

End of discussion.

His best years were in the Championship. Has only played about 80 PL games and made many errors in 2014/15 - WH has played a lot more at this level. (Please don't blame WH for the FA Cup final defeat - the ball was cleared at least 40 yards out where Puncheon made one of his poor 'tackles' which led to the goal which was unstoppable.)

You are clutching at straws as much as Hennessey clutches at thin air. Don't bother highlighting one line to deflect from the fact that we'd be better off with a 10 year old kid in goal than Hennessey at the moment.

Get the team in front right and the keeper becomes less of an issue. Good example would be claudio bravo at barca. No real problem. Citeh he became a liability.

This. It makes me chuckle how we crucify our own. A few weeks ago it was Benteke, now it is Hennessey. Some seem to have forgotten that we have never had the best players in the Premiership - if we ever get close they leave - and we have got by over the last four years as a team punching above the collective weight of our individual parts.

Certainly players make mistakes, but they will because they are not the best players in their positions in the league. If we want to crucify players for making individual mistakes then we should go and support City or some other soulless behemoth of a team where they can afford, and expect perfection.

The team is more worrying - we seem to have misplaced the attitude that has kept us up, against all odds for four seasons. Find that and it will be OK.

Being the last line of defence it don't matter who's selected if the 10 guys ahead of him are not pulling their weight. I'm not a huge fan of WH, for me he lacks command & confidence but he's just one of many under performing at the moment & for the sums of cash they earn it's about time they earnt it.

Really? I don't agree. We've got the best group of individual players right now that we ever have. Aside from Moses and Clyne, I can't really think of any others.

On reputation, certainly not on performance.

Hennessy has been the most undeserving player in our team for the past 18 months. Nothing and no-one will ever sway me from that opinion and unfortunately, it epitomises the demise in squad morale that Pardew oversaw and Allardyce perpetuates.

When Perry Suckling, a perfectly decent keeper, conceded that famous nine, we sought an immediate replacement. The rest is history.

And while I am not saying Hennessey is the cause or reason for decline, any other keeper, first team or below, surely deserves a short opportunity. They could not perform any worse.
