I wanted the point out that the last time we signed a "pro" that was supposed to come and be our saviour, despite not having played professionally for 6 months it was Edgar Davids, and we all know how that ended. But I see somebody mentioned him a couple of pages back already.

Contract will be terminated by "mutual agreement" come March.

Really concerned about the possibility of this happening. It has disaster written all over it in my opinion. It reminds me of Balotelli signing for Liverpool when everybody, including Brendon Rodgers evidently, knew it was a bad idea and would not end well.

Unless we have something up our sleeves which none of us know about, the real question isn't whether you're "concerned about what he might do to the dressing room" but how you answer this question: "Would you be more concerned if we signed no one, or more concerned if we signed Adebayor?" Because it looks like our interest, which as the window progresses appears to be increasing, is because he's the last (only) man standing. If it does boil down to the option being "go with what we've got" or "sign Adebayor" I'm afraid for me at least there really isn't any debate. Sign him.

There speaks the voice of reason - once again. For what its worth - one of my friends who used to work at Spurs (and no not the gateman) says he's great in the dressing room when motivated and in the 1st team.

He did say - we should keep him on a short-term contract, however. And I think that is clear from his career - when he's playing for more money he's unstoppable. An 18 month contract is not wise unless it is very cleverly structured.

I have to say that I agree completely with Syd and Aray.

We're in a situation where our strikers collectively have scored one goal all season, and that was a penalty. There are a number of ways this can be addressed, tactics, formations, etc but the most obvious surely must be get better striker(s) in. I doubt Adebayor is close to being our first choice, but if more preferred options aren't available or viable then at some stage he will become our first choice. The question is then 'is he a better option than buying no one', to which the answer even with his well publicised issues and baggage, is surely a resounding 'yes'.

I know Steve Parish has said in the past that it's more important to get the right player than to get any player right now, but this is a situation that surely demands action before the end of the transfer window.

And even if it doesn't work out, it will be exciting to watch a wonderful talent who on his day is unplayable, turn out in red and blue.

It doesn't seem like we're sniffing around any other strikers- either that or the club are playing it really close to their chests.

As someone earlier suggested, if it's a choice between Adebayor or no one, I'll take him. Needs to be the right deal though- to end of season, with extra 12 months if both sides agree.

Still hoping we might see a top striker unveiled before the end of the month, but getting a little concerned at the apparent inactivity when everyone else is getting deals done!

Unless we hire Cucking as chief scout, we'll probably just stick to watching them play.

I'm procrastinating, and found this

Sign him: If Adebayor cares, Adebayor scores

...But when you read that Emmanuel Adebayor is motivated to find an English club by the prospect of beating Didier Drogba’s record for goals by an African in the Premier League, you should believe it. This is a proper record that would deserve proper respect on a continent of over a billion people. It would not recognise achievement over an arbitrary period of time, but would be a legacy that could conceivably stand for the next 20 years. If you doubt that pride at being Africa’s best is a massive motivation, witness Yaya Toure’s tantrum at losing out on the African Footballer of the Year accolade for the first time in five years. This matters...

Thought this was interesting: 'a Palace side that creates more chances than Manchester United but sits 17th in the ‘goals scored’ chart'.

Short term, i.e. 6 months, then I'd reluctantly turn to him, as a last resort.

Anything longer and I'd stay well clear. I'd rather we spend 20 million on a player no one has heard of. I know Adebayour is a known quantity, but that's exactly why I wouldn't want him anywhere near the club.

There is an article on Newsnow stating Adebayor is resting our offer of 6 months, as he wants a longer deal.

Still true to form, it's all about the money with him.

Instead of taking a 6 month deal with us and performing well, which could earn him a move to a more substantial club, he opts for the money. Or could even a get a longer deal Palace.

Pretty much says it all.
