No. It's you who is missing the point.

I get completely that we seemed not to have learned the lessons and need to do so. I am NOT just virtue signalling.

My only points are:-

1) that trying to do so now, without a full, calm, reflective science based approach won't deliver the outcomes required.

2) that using the crisis as a political football, as Trump is doing, is worse than useless. It isn't just not helping anyone! It has the potential to kill people.

I have been extremely concerned about the direction being taken in the USA ever since the possibility of Trump even running became known to me. And that was some years prior to it actually happening. All that has happened since there has only confirmed my worst fears.

Now we see his terrible performance over the virus and how his vanity and self obsession is going to lead to people dying.

You are right. He didn't create the virus but as the POTUS, and de facto leader of the western world, we need leadership from him, and not campaigning for a second term, to be at the forefront of his thinking. Trump's responses have an impact well beyond what happens just in the USA, important though that is to us all in economic terms at least.

You are also wrong. China didn't create the virus either. It seems probable it developed there in animals and then spread to humans but only a thorough scientific investigation will even stand a chance of reaching a conclusive determination. Blaming China is pointless. If and when we know exactly what happened then we can work together to stop a reoccurrence.

It's in no-one's interests for something like this to happen, not least in China's, so I am quite sure they will cooperate and take all the necessary steps. Once the full facts are known. Which isn't yet.

You expect facts from china. Ha ha you cannot be that gullible to think less than 5k people died.
Look at the facts. Smaller countries have more deaths than china. Do you beleive that could be the truth.
