America are the largest funder of WHO, spending some £711 Million over the last 2 years.China in that time has contributed just £86 Million. Edited by Willo (17 Apr 2020 8.35pm)

Sorry but imo this is all about keeping cost of workers to a minimum, surely something you cannot possibly support? That's not what was said. The inference was that most of the 70,000 jobs that will be created between now and the end of the Autumn will be filled by British workers but that there will be a small number of experienced workers brought in from Romania who have done these jobs for many years. They will act as trainers and team leaders. I am only repeating what the guy said. It could all be bs as I have no knowledge beyond what I heard. Of course I don't believe we ought to deliberately suppress the wages but the reasons why this has been the case lies almost entirely at the doors of the supermarkets and, partly, at ours too as we often buy on price grounds. The supermarket groups though are really difficult to deal with as a supplier. Having dealt with them myself from the days of Daisy Hyams at Tesco up to the days of "open book pricing" I know just how tough they can be. You have to pay loads to even get a small amount of shelf space for a new line. It's a different world to what we see as a shopper.

It's kind of head scratching that we continue to allow in over 100,000 people a week off of flights into the country....unchecked. It's quite a discrepancy to have such open borders and flights arriving from even some of the hardest-hit areas of the globe, when the government sanctions a kind of domestic illiberal repression of the British people, forbidding them to even leave their own homes except in a small number of circumstances.

It's a perfectly valid argument which ought to be quietly and thoroughly debated and reconciled. After this is all over! Not now! That's the whole point I am making. Not whether what the WHO or Trump is saying is right or wrong. Just when and why Trump is saying it.

That was only 63 years ago so probably not.

It's just not now, in the middle of a crisis. Just as soon as things settle and are under control around the whole world we will be able to focus properly on such matters. Right now there are too many other more pressing concerns, especially for the WHO, to deal with. Then we need to address the impact of the economic downturn, although the necessary post mortem of the crisis would likely run in tandem. It isn't though sensible to "go after" anyone. What benefit does that bring? We need to learn lessons so we can all be better prepared. If countries have food standards which threaten humanity then these need to be scientifically proven as the cause, and concerted pressure applied to ensure change. If the WHO needs to be strengthened then we need to identify why and how. Mud slinging achieves nothing.

What lessons have we learned from the previous pandemics? None. Nothing has changed.

Determining fault, if that is what you believe is necessary, should be done after this is all over! I really hope that you now understand the point I am making as others will be getting upset at my need to keep repeating it!

This virus will come back until its replaced by a new one. Rinse and repeat.
